PUEBLO, Colo. (April 2, 2026) - Colorado State University Pueblo softball made program history Thursday afternoon at Rawlings Softball Complex, extending its winning streak to 12 games with a doubleheader sweep of Colorado Mesa in RMAC action.
The ThunderWolves (25-11, 21-5 RMAC) used a dominant offensive performance in game one before leaning on clutch hitting and strong pitching in game two to secure the milestone victory.
Game 1: CSU Pueblo 12, Colorado Mesa 4 (6 inn.)
CSU Pueblo wasted no time setting the tone in Thursday's opener, using a relentless offensive attack to power past Colorado Mesa, 12-4, in six innings.
The ThunderWolves struck early with two runs in the first inning and never looked back, adding two more in the second and continuing to apply pressure throughout the game. CSU Pueblo scored in five of the six innings, highlighted by a four-run sixth that sealed the run-rule victory.Â
The Pack totaled 13 hits in the contest and showcased its depth up and down the lineup. Timely hitting proved to be the difference, as CSU Pueblo consistently capitalized with runners on base, finishing with 11 RBIÂ on the day.Â
Extra-base production also played a key role, as the ThunderWolves tallied four extra-base hits, including a home run, to keep the Mavericks on their heels defensively.
Darleen Falcon (Sr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) hit her first bomb of the season during the fourth for the ThunderWolves.
In the circle, McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.)Â limited Colorado Mesa to six hits and just three earned runs, working out of several jams to maintain control throughout. The Mavericks were unable to slow the ThunderWolves' momentum as the Pack steadily built its lead inning by inning.
Game 2: CSU Pueblo 3, Colorado Mesa 1
Game two turned into a pitcher's duel, but CSU Pueblo once again found a way to come through late, earning a 3-1 victory to secure the sweep and the program-record 12th consecutive win.
After four scoreless innings, Colorado Mesa broke through in the top of the fifth to take a 1-0 lead. CSU Pueblo answered immediately in the bottom half, tying the game on a sacrifice fly by Gissel Morales-Cermeno (Jr., Houston, Tex.).Â
The ThunderWolves took control in the sixth inning behind clutch execution. James led off with her second double of the game and later scored on an RBI single from Reese Reimler (Fr., Champlin, Minn.) to give CSU Pueblo the lead. Moments later, Madelyn Huerta (Sr., Azusa, Calif.) delivered with a sacrifice bunt that brought home an insurance run, extending the advantage to 3-1.Â
James paced the offense with two doubles and a run scored, while Reimler and Huerta each drove in key runs in the decisive sixth inning.
In the circle, Eva Miller-Sanchez (Fr., Denver, Colo.)Â delivered a standout performance, tossing a complete game while allowing just one run on five hits and striking out five. She kept the Mavericks off balance all afternoon and shut the door in the seventh to secure the historic win.Â
