Pack Splits Saturday Doubleheader with MSU Denver, 19-Game Win Streak Snapped

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 18, 2026) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team saw its historic 19-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday, as the ThunderWolves split a high-stakes doubleheader against MSU Denver at Rawlings Softball Complex, winning the opener in dramatic fashion before falling in a tight game two.

The split moves CSU Pueblo to 32-12 overall and 28-6 in RMAC play, while snapping a streak that had not seen a loss since March 13 at Adams State.

Game One: MSU Denver 3, CSU Pueblo 4
The ThunderWolves' offense continued its torrid pace in the first game of the series and extended their winning streak to 19 games in dramatic fashion with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning from Caitlyn Cole (Sr., Merced, Calif.).

Cole delivered the decisive blow with a shot to right field, her 11th of the season. She finished 2-for-4 at the dish.

Taylor Brower (Sr., Vacaville, Calif.) went 2-for-3 at the plate and an RBI.

Gissel Morales-Cermeno (Jr., Houston, Tex.) and Emma Case (Jr., Loveland, Colo.) both recorded RBI hits.

In the circle, McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.) picked up her 16th win of the year, pitching a complete seven innings. She allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out four Roadrunners.

Game Two: MSU Denver 3, CSU Pueblo 1
The Roadrunners managed to halt the ThunderWolves' momentum in a defensive struggle that required extra innings.

Caitlyn Cole, Reese Reimler (Fr., Champlin, Minn.) and Madelyn Huerta (Sr., Azusa, Calif.) each picked up a pair of hits including a triple in the second inning.

Darleen Falcon (Sr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) slugged her 12th double of the year with one out in the third and scored on a single to shallow left from Caitlyn Cole.

The score went unchanged during the middle innings as a pitcher's dual took over. Eva Miller-Sanchez (Fr., Denver, Colo.) and MSUD's Samantha Mader battled in the circle and avoided no run damage.

MSU Denver broke the 1-1 tie in the top of the eighth inning after a lead-off single and sac bunt led to a 2-run homer hit by Cheyenne Prieto.

Kianna Butler earned the win in relief for MSU Denver and Miller-Sanchez took the hard-luck loss, pitching 7.1 strong innings and striking out seven.
