COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 11, 2026) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team continued its historic run on Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader at UCCS to complete a four-game series sweep and extend its winning streak to 18 games. The ThunderWolves have now recorded five series sweeps this season and improve to 31-11 overall and 27-5 in RMAC play.
CSU Pueblo used a balanced offensive attack and timely pitching performances in both games, pulling away late in each contest to secure the sweep.
Game One: CSU Pueblo 6, UCCS 3
In game one, the ThunderWolves broke things open with a four-run third inning on their way to a 6-3 victory. CSU Pueblo tallied eight hits in the game, led by a strong performance from
Caitlyn Cole (Sr., Merced, Calif.), who went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI.
McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.) also delivered at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
James equally effective in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing three runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts to earn the win. After surrendering three runs in the fifth inning, she settled in and held UCCS scoreless over the final two frames.
Game Two: CSU Pueblo 8, UCCS 5
The ThunderWolves carried that momentum into game two, where they erupted late to claim an 8-5 win and complete the sweep. CSU Pueblo recorded 11 hits in the nightcap, including four homers, as the offense once again proved explosive.
Caitlyn Cole sparked the lineup with a leadoff home run, while
Reese Reimler (Fr., Champlin, Minn.),
Gissel Morales-Cermeno (Jr., Houston, Tex.) and
Madelyn Huerta (Sr., Azusa, Calif.) each added long balls of their own. Morales-Cermeno led the way with three RBI, while Huerta turned in a standout performance, going 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and an RBI.
After a tight game through six innings, the ThunderWolves broke it open with a five-run seventh inning to pull away for good.
In the circle,
Kayli Cooper (Jr., North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada) got the start and combined with James, who recorded the save, to close out the victory and finish off the series in style.
With the wins, CSU Pueblo continues to build momentum in RMAC play, extending its program-record paced and solidifying its position near the top of the conference standings.

The ThunderWolves return home next weekend, where they will look to keep the streak alive as they host MSU Denver beginning Friday at Rawlings Softball Complex. First pitch is set for noon.
A Series to Remember
The ThunderWolves' success was driven by a massive offensive power surge, including eight home runs in the Friday doubleheader alone. Over the four-game span, the Pack slugged 13 homers and maintained a .300 batting average and outscored UCCS 33-17.
Madelyn Huerta led the team with a staggering .600 average, recording 6 hits and 3 RBI with a 1.100 slugging.
Gissel Morales-Cermeno was a major power source, and hit four home runs and a double and totaled 7 RBI for a remarkable 1.268 slugging percentage.
The Cole sisters,
Caitlyn Cole and
Cali Cole were big contributors at the plate, combining for a .333 average, four homers, eight runs and 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts.
The pitching staff held the Mountain Lions to a .288 average while the defense remained nearly flawless with a .983 fielding percentage.
McKenna James tossed 14.2 innings, including a complete game in the series opener. She finished with a 1.91 ERA and seven strikeouts.

Eva Miller-Sanchez (Fr., Denver, Colo.) earned a win in the high-scoring 13-7 nightcap on Friday.
