COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 10, 2026) - Colorado State University Pueblo softball continued its red-hot stretch on Friday, sweeping a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference doubleheader at UCCS behind an explosive offensive showing at Mountain Lion Field. The ThunderWolves claimed a 6-2 victory in game one before erupting for a 13-7 win in the nightcap to extend their winning streak and improve to 29-11 overall and 25-5 in RMAC play.
The Pack's offense was the story of the day, combining for 19 runs and eight home runs across the two contests, consistently applying pressure and delivering timely extra-base hits.
Game one: CSU Pueblo 6, UCCS 2
In game one, CSU Pueblo used the long ball to pace its 6-2 win, blasting four home runs despite totaling just six hits.
Caitlyn Cole (Sr., Merced, Calif.) got the scoring started with a solo shot, while
Gissel Morales-Cermeno (Jr., Houston, Tex.),
Reese Reimler (Fr., Champlin, Minn.) and
Emma Case (Jr., Loveland, Colo.) each added home runs of their own.
Case led the way with two RBI, while Morales-Cermeno and Reimler each drove in a run as part of a balanced offensive effort.
The ThunderWolves scored in five different innings, including a key two-run fifth to create separation.
Madelyn Huerta (Sr., Azusa, Calif.) reached base and scored twice to help spark the offense from the middle of the lineup.
In the circle,
McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.) delivered another steady performance, tossing a complete game while allowing just two runs (one earned) on six hits. She worked efficiently through seven innings to secure her 14th win of the season and keep UCCS at bay.
Game two: CSU Pueblo 13, UCCS 7
Game two saw the ThunderWolves' offense reach another level, erupting for 13 runs on eight hits in a dominant showing. CSU Pueblo wasted no time, plating seven runs in the opening inning to seize immediate control of the game.
The power surge continued as Morales-Cermeno led the charge with two home runs and three RBI, while
Cali Cole (So., Merced, Calif.) launched a three-run homer as part of her three-RBI performance.
Darleen Falcon (Sr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) added a leadoff home run and scored three times, and James contributed at the plate with two hits and two RBI.
CSU Pueblo added multiple-run innings in the second, fourth, and sixth to maintain distance, showcasing both power and depth throughout the lineup. The ThunderWolves also displayed patience at the plate, drawing six walks and capitalizing on scoring opportunities.
With Friday's sweep, the ThunderWolves continue to roll offensively and remain second in the RMAC standings.
CSU Pueblo will look to complete the series sweep on Saturday, with the doubleheader finale set to begin at 11 a.m. at Mountain Lion Field.
