DENVER, Colo. (March 8, 2026) – Colorado State University Pueblo softball showcased a powerful offensive performance on Sunday, sweeping both games of a doubleheader against Regis University at the Regis Softball Field. The ThunderWolves combined for 18 runs and 25 hits across two games to secure 11-1 and 7-3 victories.
Game 1: CSU Pueblo 11, Regis 1 (6 inn.)
The ThunderWolves' bats were hot from the start, as the team scored in five of the six innings. CSU Pueblo racked up 14 hits, with 10 of their 11 runs coming via RBI.
Gissel Morales-Cermeno (Jr., Houston, Tex.) and Reese Reimler (Fr., Champlin, Minn.) spearhead the attack. Morales-Cermeno finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while Reimler went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Caitlyn Cole (Sr., Merced, Calif.) provided a spark at the top of the lineup, recording a triple and scoring twice. Cali Cole (So., Merced, Calif.) also contributed significantly with two RBI and a stolen base.
In the circle, McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.) was nearly untouchable. She earned the win by pitching all six innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits while striking out four.
Game 2: CSU Pueblo 7, Regis 3
The momentum carried directly into the second game, where the ThunderWolves utilized a balanced offensive approach and a multi-pitcher effort to complete the sweep.
CSU Pueblo jumped out to an early 3-0 lead by the second inning, powered by a solo home run from Morales-Cermeno. Caitlyn Cole delivered the biggest blow of the game later on, finishing with three RBI on two hits. On the base paths, Cali Cole stayed aggressive, tallying two hits and two stolen bases.
The pitching staff combined to keep the Rangers at bay. Jaylah Rivera (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) started the contest, and Kayli Cooper (So., North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada) came on in relief to shut the door, with the pair combining to allow only three runs over seven innings.
