ThunderWolves Complete Series Sweep of Highlands to Extend Win Streak to 10

LAS VEGAS, N.M. (March 29, 2026) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team displayed an offensive masterclass this Sunday, securing two more victories to complete a series sweep over New Mexico Highlands. The ThunderWolves' bats remained red-hot through the final two contests, outscoring the Cowgirls 18-8 on the day to maintain position in the RMAC.

Series Standouts
The four-game sweep was a true team effort, reflected in the impressive series statistics. Caitlyn Cole (Sr., Merced, Calif.) finished the series with a staggering .700 batting average, recording 10 hits and 8 runs.

Darleen Falcon (Sr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) batted .545 across the four games, tallying 6 hits and 4 RBI, Madelyn Huerta (Sr., Azusa, Calif.) contributed a .429 average.

Emma Case maintained a steady presence at the plate with a .500 average and 3 RBI. On Saturday, Case eclipsed the century-mark with her 100th hit of her CSU Pueblo career.

The ThunderWolves' pitching staff delivered strong performances throughout the series, combining for a 2.96 ERA and limiting the Cowgirls to a .240 batting average. Over 26.0 total innings, the staff struck out 18 batters while only allowing 11 walks.

McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.) picked up two more wins and tossed 12.0 innings and scattered 13 hits and finished the week with six strikeouts.

Eva Miller-Sanchez (Fr., Denver, Colo.) earned a 0.62 ERA and went 1-0 over two outings. She went 11.1 innings and ended with a staff-high nine strikeouts for the week.

Kayli Cooper (Jr., North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada) closed out the series with a win after finishing with three strikeouts.

Game One: CSU Pueblo 8, NM Highlands 4
The Pack set the tone early in the first game, as Caitlyn Cole led the charge with a spectacular performance, going 4-for-4 at the plate, including two home runs, a double and four RBI. James also contributed significantly, launching a solo home run and picking up a double while going 2-for-3.

On the rubber, James earned her 11th win of the season, pitching a complete seven-inning game. She allowed just three earned runs while striking out four, effectively silencing the Cowgirls' offense until a late-game surge in the seventh inning proved too little, too late.

Game Two: CSU Pueblo 10, NM Highlands 4
The momentum carried directly into the series finale as the Pack exploded for 13 hits. Gissel Morales-Cermeno (Jr., Houston, Tex.) paced the offense in game two, going 3-for-4 with a home run and a double. Falcon was equally dangerous, recording three hits, two of which were doubles, and driving in two runs. Huerta added two doubles of her own, adding to the Pack's relentless extra-base hit total.

Cooper started the game in the circle, with Miller-Sanchez coming in to provide four strong innings of relief, allowing no earned runs and striking out five to slam the door on any Highlands comeback attempt.

Up Next
The ThunderWolves 23-11, 19-5 RMAC) will look to carry this momentum back to Pueblo as they return home for a critical conference matchup. The Pack is set to take on Colorado Mesa at the Rawlings Softball Complex, with the series opener scheduled for Thursday at Noon.
