LAS VEGAS, N.M. (March 28, 2026) - Colorado State University Pueblo softball opened its four-game RMAC road series in dominant fashion on Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader against New Mexico Highlands with a 13-3 run-rule victory in game one followed by a 2-1 win in game two.
With the pair of wins, the ThunderWolves move into sole possession of second place in the RMAC standings with a 17-5 conference record and 21-11 overall.
Game One: CSU Pueblo 13, NM Highlands 3 (5 inn.)
CSU Pueblo's offense exploded early and often in the opener, plating 13 runs on eight eight to secure a run-rule victory in five innings.
The ThunderWolves scored in every inning, highlighted by a seven-run fourth inning that broke the game wide open. They capitalized on patience at the plate, drawing six walks and being hit by four pitches while adding four doubles and a home run.
McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.) led the offensive surge, going 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBI. In the circle, James also earned the win, tossing all five innings while allowing three runs on six hits and striking out two.
Caitlyn Cole (Sr., Merced, Calif.) added three RBI, a double and two stolen bases, while
Taylor Brower (Sr., Vacaville, Calif.) chipped in two RBI and a double.
Game Two: CSU Pueblo 2, NM Highlands 1
The ThunderWolves followd up the offensive outburst with a gritty, low-scoring win in game two, edging the Cowgirls 2-1.
CSU Pueblo scored a run in each of the first two innings and made it hold up behind a strong pitching performance.
Eva Miller-Sanchez (Fr., Denver, Colo.) was outstanding in the circle, going the distance and allowing just one run on three hits while striking out four.
Offensively, the Pack totaled five hits, with contributions throughout the lineup.
Caitlyn Cole and
Reese Reimler (Fr., Champlin, Minn.) each scored a run, while the ThunderWolves used situational hitting, including sacrifice flies, to manufacture their two runs.

CSU Pueblo will look to complete the four-game sweep as the two teams wrap up the series Sunday with another doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. at NMHU Softball Field.
