ThunderWolves Win Sixth Straight; Sweep Skyhawks in Sunday Doubleheader Dominance

PUEBLO, Colo. (March 22, 2026) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team utilized a blend of explosive power and elite pitching to secure a doubleheader sweep over Fort Lewis College on Sunday at the Rawlings Softball Complex. The sweep extends the Pack's win streak to six games. CSU Pueblo took the opening contest 6-0 before grinding out a 4-1 victory in the afternoon finale to improve to 15-5 in RMAC play.

Game 1: Fort Lewis 0, CSU Pueblo 4
The first game Sunday was a masterclass by McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.), who dominated both facets of the game. On the rubber, James tossed a complete-game two-hit shutout, striking out one and requiring only 86 pitchers to dismantle the Skyhawks' offense.

The ThunderWolves' offense provided early support, beginning in the first inning when James helped her own cause with an RBI single to score Caitlyn Cole (Sr., Merced, Calif.), who had reached on a walk and stole second base. James extended the lead in the third with a solo home run to right center, her third of the season.

CSU Pueblo broke the game open in the late innings as Madelyn Huerta (Sr., Azusa, Calif.) launched a solo shot in the fourth, marking her first of the year. The fifth saw Darleen Falcon (Sr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) triple deep to center to drive in Gissel Morale-Cermeno (Jr., Houston, Tex.). The rally continued as Cali Cole (So., Merced, Calif.) and Huerta followed with RBI singles to cap a three-run frame.

In total, the ThunderWolves tallied 11 hits and recorded three stolen bases, including two from Cali Cole, to secure the 6-0 win.

James improves to 9-7 on the season.

Game 2: Fort Lewis 1, CSU Pueblo 4
In the series finale, Kayli Cooper (Jr., North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada) took the baton in the circle and delivered a stellar performance. Cooper allowed just one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out five Skyhawks to earn her third win of the season.

CSU Pueblo's offense wasted no time, manufacturing a run in the first after Caitlyn Cole singled, stole second and third, and scored on a fielder's choice by James.

The ThunderWolves broke the game open in the second inning with a three-run surge starting with Reese Reimler (Fr., Champlin, Minn.), who singled through the right side to score Emma Case (Jr., Loveland, Colo.). Morales-Cermeno then tripled to deep center field to drive in Reimler, and Caitlyn Cole followed with an RBI single to left field to push the lead to 4-0. Fort Lewis managed to break the shutout in the sixth inning with a double and single but Cooper retired the side in the seventh to finalize the 4-1 victory.

The Pack finished the finale with seven hits and stayed aggressive on the base paths with three more stolen bases from Caitlyn Cole.
