ALAMOSA, Colo. (March 14, 2026) — The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team displayed a masterclass in complementary softball on Saturday, using dominant pitching and explosive late-inning offense to sweep a doubleheader from Adams State University. The ThunderWolves held the Grizzlies scoreless over 11 total innings, moving to 15-11 on the season and 11-5 in RMAC play.
Game One: CSU Pueblo 11, Adams State 0 (6 inn.)
The opener was a scoreless stalemate for the first three innings before the ThunderWolves' offense began to chip away. The Pack took a 1-0 lead in the fourth and added five more in the fifth, but the definitive blow came in a six-run sixth inning that triggered the run rule.
Gissel Morales-Cermeno (Jr., Houston, Tex.) was the engine of the lineup, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Taylor Brower (Sr., Vacaville, Calif.) set the tone from the leadoff spot, reaching base three times and scoring twice. The Pack showed extreme aggression on the basepaths, totaling four stolen bases, including a rare steal of home by Reese Reimler (Fr., Champlin, Minn.) to cap off the scoring surge. On the rubber, Eva Miller-Sanchez (Fr., Denver, Colo.) and the Pack defense was locked in, limiting the Grizzlies to just three hits to secure the shutout.
Game Two: CSU Pueblo 9, Adams State 0 (5 inn.)
The momentum from the morning session carried directly into the nightcap. CSU Pueblo wasted no time, plating two runs in the first inning and another two in the third to build an early cushion. The game was put out of reach in the fifth when the ThunderWolves exploded for five runs on six hits.
Madelyn Huerta (Sr., Azusa, Calif.) provided the highlight of the game with a bases-clearing triple to right-center field, finishing the day 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Caitlyn Cole (Sr., Merced, Calif.) was equally productive, driving in three runs, while Morales-Cermeno punctuated her stellar Saturday with another triple. In the circle, McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.) was in total control; she tossed a complete-game two-hitter, striking out the side in the first and facing little trouble the rest of the way to seal the sweep.
