PUEBLO, Colo. - Colorado State University Pueblo bounced back in a big way Saturday afternoon, rolling past Chadron State College, 76–56, inside Massari Arena to earn a convincing home victory.
After a slow offensive start, the ThunderWolves found their rhythm in the second quarter and never looked back. CSU Pueblo outscored Chadron State 21–13 in the second and then took full control after halftime, pouring in 23 points in the third quarter to build separation.
The Pack shot 45.3 percent from the field for the game and dominated inside, holding a 38–20 advantage in points in the paint while also winning the rebounding battle, 41–36. CSU Pueblo forced 21 turnovers and converted them into 28 points, using defensive pressure to fuel its offense.
Seneya Martinez continued her strong stretch of play, leading all scorers with 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting while adding four rebounds, six steals, and an assist. Martinez is now averaging 22.0 points per game over the last four contests, anchoring the ThunderWolves offensively during their recent run.
Jada Bobb turned in an efficient performance with 15 points and six rebounds, while Genesis Sweetwine added 14 points and continued to facilitate at a high level. Sweetwine now has 50 assists over the last eight games, consistently setting the table for the Pack's balanced attack.
Anyla Owens contributed 11 points and seven rebounds, and Dasani Nesbit was a force on the glass with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Nesbit has collected 50 rebounds over the last seven games, providing a steady presence in the paint for CSU Pueblo.
Saturday's contest also featured familiar faces for the Pack, as Chadron State head coach Jalen Little previously spent five seasons on the ThunderWolves' staff under head coach Tommie Johnson, while assistant coach Romola Dominguez played for CSU Pueblo during her collegiate career.
CSU Pueblo trailed briefly in the opening quarter but responded quickly, maintaining control for more than 33 minutes of game time and holding Chadron State to just 12 points in the fourth quarter.
With New Mexico Highlands falling earlier in the day, the ThunderWolves moved back into eighth place in the RMAC standings. The top eight teams qualify for the postseason, placing CSU Pueblo back inside the cutoff for the RMAC Tournament as the regular season continues.
With the win, Colorado State University Pueblo improved to 11–11 overall and 7–7 in conference play, while Chadron State College fell to 1–18 on the season
