PUEBLO, Colo. (February 6, 2026) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team opened the Southern Colorado Crossover in perfect fashion, picking up a pair of victories Friday at the Rawlings Softball Complex.
The ThunderWolves earned a 5-4 walk-off win in extras over Texas A&M-Kingsville in their home opener before closing the day with a dominant 10-1 (5 inn.) victory over Minnesota Crookston in the nightcap.
Game One: CSU Pueblo 5, Texas A&M-Kingsville 4 (8 innings)
CSU Pueblo battled back multiple times in its home opener and sealed the win in extraa innings behind timely hitting and strong pitching.
After TAMKU scored first in the opening inning, the ThunderWolves responded in the second when
Reese Reimler (Fr., Champlin, Minn.) stole home to even the score at 1-1. The Javelinas regained the lead with a two-run homer in the fifth, but CSU Pueblo answered with three runs in the sixth to go in front, highlighted by a two-run single from Reimler and an RBI-double by
Cali Cole (So., Merced, Calif.).
The visitors tied the game in the seventh, sending it to extras. In the bottom of the eighth,
McKenna James (Sr., Windsor, Colo.) delivered the walk-off moment, laying down an infield bunt single to score the placed runner and give the ThunderWolves the 5-4 victory.
Reimler led the offense, going 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Madelyn Huerta (Sr., Azusa, Calif.) also had a big day at the plate, finishing 3-for-4, while James added two hits and the game-winning RBI.
In the circle, James went the distance, throwing 8.1 innings and striking out seven while allowing four runs, three earned.
Game Two: CSU Pueblo 10, Minnesota Crookston 1 (5 innings)
The ThunderWolves carried the momentum into the nightcap, scoring early and often to secure a run-rule victory.
CSU Pueblo opened the scoring in the first inning and added two more in the second, including a solo home run from
Caitlyn Cole (Sr., Merced, Calif.). A five-run fourth inning broke the game open, highlighted by a grand slam from James, her first home run of the season.
Cole had a standout performance, finishing 3-for-3 with three runs scored, two RBI, a double and a home run. James drove in four runs, while
Belah Hrouda (Fr., St. Paul, Minn.) added a two-run homer in the fifth to end the game early.
Kayli Cooper (Fr., North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada) earned the win in the circle, tossing all five innings and allowing just one run on three hits while striking out two.
