CENTRAL, S.C. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's lacrosse team made history here Saturday as the ThunderWolves opened the season 2-0 for the first time in program history thanks to a 15-2 win over Southern Wesleyan University at Childs Field.
With the victory, the Pack moves to 2-0 on the season, while Southern Wesleyan falls to 0-3 on the season. The Pack will look to conclude its three-game trip to the Palmetto State 3-0 as they play on Monday at 11 a.m. MT in Spartanburg against Converse University.
In Saturday's win, the Pack jumped out to a 7-0 lead just 16 minutes into the game and led 9-1 at the half. The Pack outscored the Warriors, 6-1, in the second half that featured a running clock most of the second half after the Pack took a 10-goal lead.

The Pack recorded 11 assists on their 15 goals, as along with Wasmund's three assists, Mora, sophomore attacker
Emily Doane (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) and redshirt freshman midfielder
Sienna Rinn (Eagle, Colo./Eagle Valley) each two assists. The 11 assists are tied for eighth most in a game in school history.
Grehan got the scoring started with a goal that was assisted by Wasmund just 31 seconds into the game. Jackson first goal of the game came less than two minutes later and she added a second goal just 25 seconds later that was assisted by
Sienna Rinn to give the Pack a 3-0 lead with 12:27 left in the opening period.
Mora got into the scoring column on a free position goal with 7:57 left in the first period and Wasmund scored her first goal of the game with 5:38 left in the period to give the Pack a 5-0 lead.
The Pack's lead grew to 6-0 just 37 seconds into the second period on a goal by Gunnels that was assisted by Mora and Mora then scored a goal with 14:05 left in the second period off a pass from freshman attacker
Abby Vanzant (Aurora, Colo./Cherokee Trail) to take a 7-0 lead.
SWU would finally get onto the scoreboard with 10:33 left in the second period on a goal by Caelyn Little. The Pack though would cap the first half scoring with goals by
Sophia Rinn and a man-up goal by Wasmund to give the Pack a 9-1 lead at the half.
The Pack pushed its lead to 13-1 after three periods of play as they outscored the Warriors, 4-0. Gunnels scored two goals in the period, while Grehan and and
Sophia Rinn scored a goal each.
Jackson completed the hat trick with 11:30 left in the game as she scored off a pass from Wasmund to give the Pack a 14-1 lead. Taylor Townsend got the Warriors on the board again as she scored a goal off an assist from Little with 4:40 left in the game and the Pack completed the scoring with man-up goal with 2:34 left in the game from freshman attacker

The Pack outshot the Warriors, 33-17, including a 26-11 advantage in shots on goal.
CSU Pueblo won the ground ball battle, 40-37, with Jackson recording six and senior defender
Audrey Allendorf (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) added a career-high five and Gunnels tallied four in the win.
The Pack also held a 12-9 edge in draws with Wasmund and Gunnels each winning three draws and Doane collecting two. The was also 23-for-28 on clears, while SWU was 13-for-22 on clears.
SWU committed 30 turnovers and the Pack were credited with 21 caused turnovers, which is tied for the fifth-most in school history. Jackson finished with five caused turnovers, while Allendorf had three. The Pack had 22 turnovers and SWU recorded 13 caused turnovers.
Freshman goalie
Hannah Duffee (Stillwater, Minn./St. Croix Preparatory Academy) played all 60 minutes in the cage and recorded nine saves and allowed just two goals.
Little and Townsend each scored a goal and combined for nine shots for the Warriors.
