Luke Ruby (Fort Collins, Colo./Resurrection Christian), as the ThunderWolves earned an 8–4 victory over Regis here Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game at Rawlings Field.
With the win, the ThunderWolves improve to 4-0 on the season, while Regis fell to 5-4 on the season.
The Pack jumped out to a three-run lead in the bottom of the first inning, taking advantage of four hits and a Regis throwing error to seize control. Senior rightfielder
Jeremiah Sanchez (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo West) and junior centerfielder
Logan Kelly (Mission Viejo, Calif./San Juan Capistrano) set the tone with back-to-back singles open the bottom of the first inning, and junior third baseman
Jason Arriola's (Riverside, Calif./Norco) bunt single plated two runs following an error by Regis starting pitcher Gio Casas. Senior first baseman
George Andrews (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley West) capped the inning with a RBI single up the middle.
CSU Pueblo added to the lead in the third when sophomore leftfielder
Dax Howard (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) launched his first home run of the season, a solo shot to deep center, making it 4-0.
Regis got on the board in the top of the fourth with an unearned run, but the Pack responded immediately, in the bottom of the fourth as they pushed across their fifth run of the season on an RBI bunt single by Howard.
Ruby (1-0) was sharp in his first start of the 2026 season, working five innings and allowing one unearned run on six hits, while striking out five and walking two. The right-hander induced seven groundouts in his 88-pitch outings. The Pack's starting pitchers this season have pitched a total of 21 innings and allowed three runs (two earned), while walking eight and striking out 16.
The Pack broke the game open in the sixth inning as senior second baseman
Taehyung Kim (Marana, Ariz./St. Cloud State) delivered a two-run triple to right field, scoring Andrews and junior pinch hitter
JJ Cardinal (Pueblo, Colo./Southwestern College) to extend the lead to 7–1. Andrews added another run in the eighth, tripling to center and later scoring on a wild pitch.
Regis mounted a late rally in the ninth, scoring three runs with the help of an error and a pair of RBI hits, but junior
Jackson Adam (Windsor, Colo./Missouri Western), who was the sixth pitcher of the game for the Pack, entered in relief and shut the door to secure the victory.
Offensively, Andrews led the way with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate, including a triple and an RBI, while Howard drove in two runs and finished with five total bases. Kim added two RBI, and Sanchez reached base three times and scored twice.
Regis finished the game with 12 hits, including three from Ethan Ralph and two hits each from Dylan Perry, Aaron Kidd and Nicholai Arnold.
Casas (0-1) started on the mound for the Rangers and went three innings and allowed seven hits and four runs (three earned), while walking two and striking out three. The Rangers used a total of nine pitchers in the game.
The Pack out-hit Regis, 13-12, and turned three double plays defensively. Both teams left a combined 25 runners on base as the stranded 11 and Regis left 11 runners on base.
CSU Pueblo will continue its homestand with a four-game series this weekend against Northwest Missouri State. The teams will begin the series with a 2 p.m. game on Friday, Feb. 13, before playing single games on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. and concluding the series with a 12 p.m. game on Monday.
