Torrie, Robinson Named RMAC Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo took home two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon as junior linebacker Bryson Torrie (Denver, Colo./Vista Peak) and senior receiver Reece Robinson (Los Angeles, Calif./Antelope Valley) were named this week's Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week respectively.

Torrie and Robinson become the second and third Pack football players to earn RMAC Player of the Week honors as junior safety Kahden Rullo (Denver, Colo./Grandview) was named the Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 1. In addition, Robinson earns his second career Special Teams Player of the Week accolade after receiving the recognition on Oct. 7, 2024, following the New Mexico Highlands game.

Torrie earns this week's Defensive Player of the Week accolade after having a career game in the Pack's 55-7 home win this past Saturday against Adams State. In the win against Adams State, is all Torrie did on defense against the Grizzlies was score two touchdowns as he forced a fumble on a 7-yard run by Gavin McFarland and returned that fumble 42 yards for a touchdown to give the Pack a 17-0 lead with 5:08 left in the first quarter and he would get his second touchdown after picking off a Gavin Herberg pass and returning it five yards for a touchdown to give the Pack a 38-0 lead with 11:07 left in the second quarter.

He is the only Division II player this season to score two defensive touchdowns in the same game, and he is believed to be the only Pack player to score two defensive touchdowns in the same game since the program restarted in 2008. Along with scoring two defensive touchdowns, Torrie also finished the game with three tackles, including two solo stops. In the game, the Pack defense forced five turnovers as they picked off four passes and forced a fumble, and Torrie scored a total of 12 of the Pack's 55 points. In addition, the Pack defense also held ASU to a total of 224 yards of offense and one touchdown.

On the season, Torrie has recorded 26 tackles, including 13 solo stops, and had had a sack, a tackle for a loss, two pass break-ups, one interception, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.

Meanwhile, Robinson earns his second career Special Teams Player of the Week honor after returning a punt 65 yards for a touchdown in the win over Adams State. For the game, Robinson returned two punts for 73 yards and averaged 36.5 yards per punt return. His 65-yard return gave the Pack a 31-0 lead just two-plus minutes into the second quarter. The punt return touchdown was the second of Robinson's career and he is now tied for second on the school's all-time list for punt return touchdowns. In addition, he is also tied for first among active Division II players with two punt return touchdowns.

On the season, Robinson ranks second in the RMAC and is 14th nationally in Division II in punt returns as he is averaging 13.4 yards per punt return. He has returned 12 punts for 161 yards and has recorded 180 all-purpose yards as he has caught two passes for 17 yards.

Along with Torrie and Robinson, the league named Colorado School of Mines redshirt sophomore quarterback Joseph Capra as the Offensive Player of the Week after going 24-for-35 passing for 272 yards and having three touchdown passes and an interception and added 73 yards rushing on eight attempts and scored a touchdown on a 6-yard run in the Orediggers' 36-27 win at Black Hills State.

Torrie, Robinson and the rest of the Pack (4-1 overall, 3-0 RMAC) look to extend its win streak to four straight games this Saturday, Oct. 4 as they travel to Las Vegas, N.M., for a 1 p.m. RMAC contest at New Mexico Highlands (3-1 overall, 2-1 RMAC).
