SPEARFISH, S.D. - The Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team has surged to the top of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings, sitting alone in first place after opening league play with four consecutive victories. The Pack improved to 8-4 overall and a perfect 4-0 in RMAC action with a dominant sweep on the road at Black Hills State, 25-22, 25-13, 25-10.
The Pack showcased balance and efficiency across all three sets in Spearfish, After withstanding a back and forth opening frame, CSU Pueblo pulled away late to secure the first set, then rode their momentum to commanding wins in sets two and three. The Pack hit .240 as a team while holding the Yellow Jackets to a .036 attack percentage.
Senior outside hitter
Caelyn Gunn once again led the way offensively, delivering 15 kills on a .375 hitting clip to go along with 14 digs for a double-double. Setter
Elena Stankovic directed the offense with 28 assists and chipped in seven kills while hitting .700.
Taylor Cary added seven kills, and libero
Megan Mattingly provided a spark from the service line with four aces while anchoring the back row with 11 digs.
Defensively, CSU Pueblo collected 55 digs as a unit and tallied seven blocks, with Finja Schul and Lily Zwart contributing at the net. The Pack also controlled the serve-and-pass game, out-acing Black Hills State 8–2.
With the sweep, CSU Pueblo has now won its first four RMAC matches for the first time in recent memory and stands alone atop the conference table. The ThunderWolves have claimed road wins at South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State while also defending home court in earlier league play.
The Pack will look to extend their perfect conference run when they return to action next week, aiming to keep building momentum in their pursuit of an RMAC title.
