Football Ranked No. 5 and No. 6 in Latest AFCA Coaches' and D2Football.com Media Polls

PUEBLO, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo Football enters Thursday's home non-conference tilt with Fort Hays State ranked in the Top 6 in both of this week's latest AFCA Division II Coaches' and D2Football.com polls.

In this week's first weekly national Division II football polls of the 2025 season, the ThunderWolves, who are 1-0 after opening the season with a 43-0 home shutout win last Thursday over South Dakota Mines, are ranked No. 5 in the AFCA Division II Coaches' Poll presented by Hudl and No. 6 in the latest D2Football.com Media Top 25 Poll.

The Pack received 638 points in this week's AFCA Coaches' Poll to sit 10 points behind No. 4 Slippery Rock, who received 648 points and 26 points in front of No. 6 West Florida (1-0), who earned 612 points. In the D2Football.com poll, the Pack sits behind No. 4 Grand Valley State (1-0) and in front of No. 7 Western Colorado (1-0).

The Pack are one of four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools either ranked or receiving votes in the latest AFCA poll and one of two league schools ranked in the D2Football.com poll. Besides the Pack in the AFCA poll, Western Colorado jumped one spot to No. 9 this week, while Colorado School of Mines (9 votes) and Colorado Mesa (2 votes) each earned votes in this week's poll.

The top two teams are the same in both the AFCA and D2Football.com polls as Ferris State (1-0) and Harding are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in both polls. In addition to Ferris State and Harding, the AFCA has Grand Valley State (1-0) ranked No. 3, Slippery Rock ranked No. 4 and CSU Pueblo ranked No. 5, while the D2Football.com poll has Minnesota State (1-0) at No. 3, Kutztown (Pa.) at No. 4 and Grand Valley State is at No. 5.

CSU Pueblo will look to improve to 2-0 on the season as they host Fort Hays State on Thursday, Sept. 4 in the ThunderBowl. Kickoff for Thursday's Throw Back Night game is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. MT. The Pack have won nine straight regular season games since suffering a 24-21 home loss last season on Sept. 14, 2024 to then No. 3 ranked Grand Valley State.
