MONMOUTH, Ore. (Sept. 18, 2025) - In a tightly contested defensive showdown, No. 3 Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer played Western Oregon to a 0-0 draw Thursday afternoon at WOU Soccer Field.
With the draw, CSU Pueblo (2-0-3) extends its unbeaten streak to five games to start the season, while Western Oregon moves its record to 2-1-1.
Despite both teams generating eight shots apiece, neither side could break through in a match defined by physical play and standout goalkeeping.
Pack goalkeeper and reigning RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week
Esteban Gonzalez (Jr., Brussels, Belgium) was a wall between the posts, recording four saves, including a dramatic stop on a penalty kick by Western Oregon's Yahir Ocampo Navarro in the 28th minute.
Western Oregon's keeper Justin Stewart matched Gonzalez save-for-save, denying CSU Pueblo's best chances, including a late strike from
Brandon Sanchez (Jr., Tucson, Ariz.) in the 88th minute.
Defensively, the ThunderWolves were organized, limiting Western Oregon's top chances and making key interventions; offensively, there were moments of promise—some shots just wide, some good movement in the attacking third—but the final touch eluded them.
