GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (March 30, 2025) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team dropped the final two games of a four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) series on Sunday, falling 7-1 in game three of the series and dropped a 5-4 decision in the series finale.
On the day, the ThunderWolves were led by
Caitlyn Cole (Jr., Merced, Calif.) with four hits and a RBI.
Game One recap
The ThunderWolves scored their lone run in the fourth on a RBI-double hit by
McKenna James (Jr., Windsor, Colo.) and left four runners on base.
James started in the circle for the Pack and gave up seven runs on eight hits.
CMU scored two runs in each of the first and third innings and put up three runs in their half of the fifth to come away with the win.
Game Two recap
In the series finale, CSU Pueblo rallied for four runs over the last three innings, including a 3-run seventh inning to tie the game.
Caitlyn Cole went 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of walks and
Delaney Barela (5th., Pueblo, Colo.) recorded two hits for the Pack.
Mesa built a 3-run lead over the first two innings and CMU pitcher Jessalyn Gallegos kept the Pack at bay until the later innings.
The ThunderWolves got on the board in the T5 when
Caitlyn Cole slugged a solo shot to right field for her 8th home run of the season.
Trailing 2-1 entering the seventh, CSU Pueblo got one run closer thanks to a single from Barela, followed by a RBI-double from
Madelyn Huerta (Jr., Azusa, Calif.).
The next batter singled on the infield to put runners on the corners. After a sac-bunt, the Pack had runners on first and second with two outs and
Cali Cole (Fr., Merced, Calif.) hit a 2-run double and tied the gave the Pack a 4-2 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, CMU's Myah Arrieta hit a RBI-double to get the Mavs within a run. The next two batters walked and loaded the bases when Brynn Escobar hit into a fielder's choice, allowing the winning run the score.
Mia Sanchez (Fr., Los Angeles, Calif.) was tagged with the loss and drops to 7-5 on the year.

CSU Pueblo (20-15, 19-9 RMAC) returns home and battles University of Colorado Colorado Springs in a four-game RMAC series starting Friday at Noon at Rawlings Softball Complex.
