Game One recap
In the opener, CSU Pueblo was powered by
Taylor Brower (Jr., Vacaville, Calif.), who drove in two runs to pace the offense. In the circle,
McKenna James (Jr., Windsor, Colo.) delivered a strong outing, allowing just one run on eight hits in a complete-game effort. The win marked her 11th of the season.
After giving up a run in the T3, CSU Pueblo responded with three runs on two hits, highlighted by a two-run triple from Brower. She would later come around to score on a SAC fly out from
Madelyn Huerta (Jr., Azusa, Calif.) and took a 3-1 lead heading to the fourth.
A scoreless top half set up the Pack for another single run in the B4 on a RBI-single from
Emma Case (So., Loveland, Colo.).
Another run would cross for the ThunderWolves in the fifth and took advantage of two errors in the inning and built the 4-run cushion.
Over the last two innings, James was able to escape a mini-jam in the sixth and retired UCCS with one runner on and closed out the win with a fly out on the infield.
Game Two recap
The nightcap saw another tight contest, with the ThunderWolves coming out on top.
Mia Sanchez (Fr., Los Angeles, Calif.) went the distance, giving up three runs in a gritty complete-game performance. At the plate, Case came up clutch, recording two hits and collecting two RBI to lead the Pack to the 4-3 win.
Sanchez allowed single runs in the first three innings and trailed 3-0 before the ThunderWolves responded with a four-run bottom of the third.
In the frame,
Cali Cole (Fr., Merced, Calif.) made hard contact with the ball and caused the defender to fumble to play and allow the first run to score.
The next batter, Case stepped in and hit a 2-run single up the middle and tied the game at 3-3.
The Pack took the lead after an obstruction call resulted in the go-ahead run to score.
With the lead, Sanchez allowed three hits over the final four innings including getting out of a jam to end the game.
