PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's basketball team will look to snap a four-game losing skid and remain in contention for postseason play this week as the ThunderWolves will conclude a stretch of four games in seven days with a road game at Colorado Christian and a home game against UCCS.
The Pack will conclude a three-game road swing with an 8 p.m. game on Tuesday, Feb. 11 in Lakewood, Colo., against Colorado Christian (9-13 overall, 5-9 RMAC), before concluding the four games in seven day stretch with a 7:30 game on Thursday, Feb. 13 in Massari Arena against UCCS (14-8 overall, 8-6 RMAC).
CSU Pueblo enters this week's action having lost four straight games and 10 of its last 12 games overall after falling 75-70 last Thursday at Black Hills State and suffering an 81-65 loss this past Saturday at Chadron State. The Pack is sporting a 10-12 overall record and is in a three-way tie with Colorado Christian and Westminster for ninth place in the RMAC standings with a 5-9 league mark. The top eight teams in the league standings at the end of the regular season earn a spot in the RMAC Tournament. The Pack is currently just two games out of eighth place in the league and three games out of sixth place in the standings with three weeks left in the regular season.
The Pack will playing its 11th road game this season on Tuesday night and its 13th home game on Thursday night. The Pack is 2-7 on the road, including being 2-5 on the road in RMAC play, while they are 8-4 at home, including being 3-4 at home in RMAC play. After opening the season by winning its first two RMAC road games, the Pack has dropped five straight league games on the road and has two straight games at home in league play as they fell two weeks ago to both Colorado Mesa (64-61) and Westminster (72-66).
Both of this week's games are rematches from earlier this season as the Pack opened the 2025 calendar year with an 83-72 home loss to Colorado Christian on Jan. 9 and fell two days later on the road at UCCS, 82-60.
ABOUT THE PACK
Through 22 games this season, the Pack has three players averaging in double figures with senior guard
Armon Muldrew (Perris, Calif./San Bernardino Valley) leading the way as he is averaging 11.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and a team-best 2.7 assists per game. He is shooting 43 percent from the field, 33 percent from the 3-point line and 75 percent at the free throw line and has scored in double figures in five of his last six games and 15 times overall on the season and leads the Pack in made treys with 27. In RMAC play, Muldrew is averaging 12.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game and is shooting 42 percent from the field and 36 percent from the 3-point line.

De'Shaun Cooper (San Diego, Calif./Balboa School) is averaging 11.5 points and a team-best 5.9 rebounds per game and is shooting 65 percent from the field and has scored in double figures in three straight games and a team-best 16 times on the season and has had three double-doubles. Cooper, who became the 28th member of the Pack's 1,000-Point Club last Thursday after scoring 11 points against Black Hills State, comes into this week's action sitting 27th in career scoring with 1,015 points and he is 13th among active NCAA Division II in field goal percentage at 61.5 percent.
The third double-digit scorer for the Pack is fifth-year senior guard
Brevin Walter (Las Vegas, Nev./South Dakota Mines) as he is averaging 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game and is shooting 37 percent from the field, 28 percent from the 3-point line and a team-best 82.5 percent (66-for-80) from the free throw line, which is 10th best in the RMAC and has scored in double figures in seven of his last 11 games and 14 times overall. Walter enters this week's action as the No. 5 active scorer in Division II with 1,946 points and is one of 40 active NCAA men's basketball players that have scored 1,900 or more career points.
As a team, the Pack, who is coached by sixth-year head coach
Matt Hammer, enters this week's action averaging 72.1 points per game, but has been held under 70 points in 11 of its last 15 games, as they scored 70 points last Thursday at Black Hills State, scored 92 points three weeks ago against Adams State, while scoring 75 points four weeks ago at Mines and tallying 72 points at home against Colorado Christian nearly five weeks ago. In 14 RMAC games, the Pack is averaging 68.6 points per game. On defense, the Pack is allowing 71.4 points per game, which is seventh in the RMAC and is eighth in the league in scoring margin at +0.8.
The Pack enters this week's action sitting third in the league and are 45th in Division II in 3-point field goal percentage defense The Pack's opponents are shooting 31.4 percent (144-for-459) from the 3-point line and those opponents are shooting 42.9 percent (573-for-1,335) from the field. Thirteen of the Pack's 22 opponents have shot better than 40 percent from the field, while nine of the Pack's 22 opponents haven't shot better than 28 percent from the 3-point line, but eight of its last 12 opponents have shot better than 30 percent or better from downtown, including Chadron State shooting 55.6 percent (10-for-18) from the 3-point line last Saturday.
One of the areas the Pack has struggled with this season is shooting the 3-point shot as the Pack are shooting an RMAC-worst 30 percent (121-for-403) from long distance and are making 5.5 treys per game, which is 14th in the RMAC. In RMAC play, the Pack is shooting 30.4 percent from the 3-point line and are averaging 5.5 made treys per game. Last season, the Pack was one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the league as they shot 37.1 percent from long distance, which was third-best in the RMAC. The Pack averaged 8.3 made treys per game last season.
Once again this season, the Pack are among the top assist teams in the RMAC as they enter this week's action fourth in the RMAC in assists per game as they are averaging 15.0 per game. The Pack has recorded 331 assists this season and has assisted on 57.6 percent of its 575 made field goals on the year. The Pack has recorded 10 or more assists 17 times in 22 games, including six straight games with 10 or more assists and has had six games with 20 or more assists. Last season, the Pack finished third in the RMAC in assists as they averaged 14.4 per game. On the season, the Pack had four players record 50 or more assists and had six games with 20 or more assists. The Pack recorded an assist on nearly 52 percent of its made field goals.
Another strength this season for Pack is their ability to rebound the basketball as they enter this week's action third in the RMAC in rebounding as they are averaging 36.1 boards per game. The Pack is ninth in the league in rebound margin as they are outrebounded its foes by 1.3 boards per contest. The Pack have collected 40 or more rebounds in a game eight times, including a season-high 55 boards against Bethany. In RMAC play, the Pack is averaging 33.6 rebounds per game. Three Pack players have recorded 80 or more rebounds on the year with Cooper leading the way with 129 boards, which is 10th in the RMAC. In addition to Cooper, Kennis is next with 96 boards, while Johnson is third with 82 boards.
ABOUT COLORADO CHRISTIAN
Colorado Christian comes into Tuesday's home game with CSU Pueblo having won two of its three games with the lone loss being a 62-58 loss last Thursday at Chadron State. The Cougars picked up a 59-38 win at South Dakota Mines this past Saturday. The Cougars are sporting a 9-13 overall record and is sitting in a tie for ninth place in the RMAC standings with a 5-9 record. Before winning two of its last three games, CCU had dropped five straight games after picking up its 83-72 win in Pueblo against the Pack on Jan. 9. In addition to a win over South Dakota Mines, CCU's other RMAC wins have come at home against Western Colorado (69-91) and South Dakota Mines (60-54) and on the road against Colorado Mesa (75-65) and at CSU Pueblo (83-72).
The Cougars have played 14 of their 22 games at home this season as CCU is 5-9 at home this season and is 4-4 on the road. CCU is 2-5 at home in RMAC play and is 3-4 on the road in RMAC play. The Cougars, though, have lost four of their six games of the 2025 calendar year on their home court.
CCU, who was tabbed to finish 14th in the Preseason RMAC Coaches' Poll as they earned 41 points from the league's head coaches, has one player averaging in double figures this season as redshirt sophomore forward Bradley Land is averaging 14.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game and is shooting 50 percent from the field, 32 percent from the 3-point line and 78 percent at the free throw line. Land has scored in double figures in 18 games, including tallying two double-doubles. He is averaging 15.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game and is shooting 47 percent from the field, 28 percent from the 3-point line and 79 percent at the free throw line.
In addition to Land, sophomore guard Tate Odvody is averaging 7.5 points and 2.7 rebounds per game and is shooting 54 percent from the field and 94 percent from the free throw line and has reached double figures in eight games, while redshirt junior guard Schafer Reichart is averaging 7.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game and is shooting 42 percent from the field and has reached double figures in five games and sophomore guard Bobby McWard is averaging 7.1 points per game and is shooting 47 percent from the field, 45 percent from the 3-point line and 72 percent from the free throw line and is averaging 1.8 treys per game as he has hit a team-leading 36 treys on the year.
As a team, CCU is averaging 67.7 points per game and is allowing 70.0 points per game. The Cougars are shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 33 percent from the 3-point line and are shooting 71.8 percent from the free throw line. CCU is making 7.0 treys per game as they have hit 154 in 22 games. In addition, the Cougars are averaging 31.8 rebounds, 12.2 assists, 6.2 steals and 2.9 blocks per game. Defensively, CCU's opponents are shooting 46 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from the 3-point line.
CCU is coached by Liam Simmons, who is in his fifth season with the Cougars and has compiled a 42-83 overall record and has led the program to back-to-back 10-win seasons.
Tuesday's game with CCU is the second of two meetings this season between the two schools as the Cougars earned an 83-72 win in Pueblo on Jan. 9. The Pack leads the all-time series 17-11 and they have won 10 of the last 11 games in the series. The Pack leads the series, 8-6 at home and leads 9-5 on CCU's home court.
SCOUTING UCCS MOUNTAIN LIONS
UCCS comes into this week's action having won three of its last four games with the lone loss coming last Saturday as the Mountain Lions fell 75-66 at Black Hills State to snap a three-game win streak. The Mountain Lions are sporting a 14-8 overall record and are sitting in a tie for sixth place in the RMAC standings with an 8-6 record. Since picking up an 82-60 home win over the Pack on Jan. 11, UCCS has posted a 4-4 record with the wins coming at home against New Mexico Highlands (81-78), Western Colorado (68-64) and Colorado Mesa (71-57) and at South Dakota Mines (65-54), while the losses have come at Black Hills State (75-66), at home against Fort Lewis (87-84) and at both MSU Denver (88-81) and Regis (83-78).
The Mountain Lions have been strong at home this season with an 8-3 record, including being 5-2 at home in RMAC play, but they have also posted a 6-5 record on the road, including a 3-4 road record in RMAC play. The Mountain Lions, though, have lost three of its last four road RMAC games the lone win coming last Thursday at South Dakota Mines (65-54).
UCCS, who was tabbed seventh in the Preseason RMAC Coaches' Poll as they earned 122 points in the poll, has three players averaging in double figures on the season with graduate student 6-foot-9 forward William Becker leading the way as he is averaging 15.6 points and an RMAC-leading 9.0 rebounds per game and is shooting an RMAC-best 69.1 percent from the field and 83.8 percent at the free throw line. He has scored in double figures in 16 straight games and 21 times overall and has tallied an RMAC-best 11 double-doubles on the year. In RMAC play, Becker is averaging 15.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game and is shooting 72 percent from the field and 81 percent at the free throw line.
In addition to Becker, UCCS' other double-digit scorers are sophomore guard Xavier Martinez and senior guard Hannes Saar. Martinez is averaging 13.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and is tied for fourth in the RMAC in assists per game at 3.9 per game, and is shooting 47 percent from the field, 38 percent from the 3-point line, and 83 percent from the free throw line, and has scored in double figures in 15 games, including four games with 20 or more points, while Saar is averaging 10.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game and is shooting 46 percent from the field, 33 percent from the 3-point line and has scored in double figures in 12 games, including five times in his last six games.
As a team, UCCS is averaging 76.4 points per game is allowing 72.5 points per game. The Mountain Lions are shooting 47 percent from the field, 32 percent from the 3-point line and 77 percent from the free throw line, which is second-best in the RMAC. UCCS is third in the league in blocks per game (3.5) and is also third in the league in assist/turnover ratio at 1.18. Additionally, they are averaging 34.8 rebounds per game and are forcing 12.4 turnovers per game. Defensively, UCCS' foes are shooting 46 percent from the field and 35 percent from downtown.
UCCS is coached by Jeff Culver, who is in his 13th season with the Mountain Lions and has compiled and has compiled a 200-158 record and led the program to its only RMAC Championship in 2015.

Following this week's games at CCU and at home against UCCS, the Pack hits the road for the final time in the 2024-25 regular season as they travel to Durango, Colo., for a 7:30 p.m. game on Thursday, Feb. 20 against Fort Lewis and then plays a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Alamosa, Colo., against Adams State.
