KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 15, 2026) - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's basketball program was recognized for its excellence in the classroom as it earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2025-26 academic year, the organization announced Wednesday.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize programs that complete the academic year with a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The ThunderWolves finished the 2025-26 academic year with a team GPA of 3.104.

In addition to the team honor, four CSU Pueblo student-athletes were named to the NABC Honors Court, which recognizes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

The NABC presents its academic awards annually to recognize outstanding achievement in the classroom across all levels of collegiate men's basketball. More than 2,300 student-athletes were named to the 2025-26 NABC Honors Court, while more than 400 programs earned Team Academic Excellence Awards.

CSU Pueblo was one of five Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference programs to receive the Team Academic Excellence Award, joining Chadron State, Colorado School of Mines, UCCS and Western Colorado.

"College basketball student-athletes do incredible things on the court, but their achievements in the classroom are equally worthy of celebration," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Education is one of the NABC's core values, and the hundreds of programs and thousands of athletes represented on these awards reinforce the commitment to academic success that exists across all levels of our sport."

The academic recognition comes on the heels of one of the most successful seasons in recent program history. The ThunderWolves posted a 22-8 overall record in 2025-26, marking the program's best season in 29 years while recording the seventh 20-win campaign since CSU Pueblo became a four-year institution in 1962-63.

The Pack also finished 15-5 in RMAC play, tying for second place in the conference standings—the program's best league finish since back-to-back second-place finishes in 1987-88 and 1988-89. CSU Pueblo capped the season by earning its first postseason victory in 11 years, defeating Colorado School of Mines 72-63 in the quarterfinals of the RMAC Tournament at Massari Arena.
