ThunderWolves Wrap Up NCAA South Central Regional Championships on Home Course

PUEBLO, Colo. — Competing on familiar ground, the Colorado State University Pueblo men's and women's cross country teams closed out the 2025 NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championships on Saturday morning at Walking Stick Golf Club.

In front of a supportive home crowd, the ThunderWolves' women's squad delivered a strong performance to finish sixth overall, putting themselves in prime position to qualify for the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships, scheduled for November 22 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Adams State captured the women's team title with 42 points, followed by UC-Colorado Springs in second with 74 points and Colorado School of Mines in third with 82 points. The top three teams earn automatic bids to nationals, while CSU Pueblo's sixth-place finish should be strong enough to earn an at-large selection after back-to-back national appearances in 2023 and 2024.

Leading the way for the Pack was senior Camille Renou, who earned All-Region honors after placing 20th overall in 21:31.8. Renou's standout effort capped an impressive individual season and set the tone for a balanced ThunderWolf lineup that again displayed its depth and composure on a championship stage. Senior Jadyn Herron followed as CSU Pueblo's second finisher, maintaining her postseason consistency as one of the program's most reliable veterans with a 30th place finish.

On the men's side, CSU Pueblo finished 10th overall, closing out its 2025 campaign in one of the deepest regions in all of Division II cross country. Adams State secured the men's regional title with 50 points, narrowly holding off Colorado School of Mines (62 points). Western Colorado placed third (75 points), while Colorado Christian (fourth) and West Texas A&M (fifth) rounded out the five automatic national qualifiers.

CSU Pueblo was once again led by upperclassmen Kameron Eustace and Jon Sweepe, both key returners from last year's NCAA national qualifying squad. The pair guided a youthful Pack roster through a highly competitive field featuring multiple nationally ranked programs.

Hosting the regional for the first time, Walking Stick Golf Club offered a scenic yet demanding layout that tested every team's endurance and tactical execution. Cool morning conditions and rolling fairways set the stage for fast times across both races, with the women's 6K starting at 11:00 a.m. and the men's 10K following at 12:15 a.m.

Head Coach Matt Morris praised his student-athletes for their resilience and consistency throughout the season.

"It's always an honor to compete at home, and I'm proud of how both squads represented CSU Pueblo," Morris said. "Our women's team ran exceptionally well against one of the toughest regions in the country, and our men battled hard in a loaded field. This weekend was a great showcase of Pack cross country."

The ThunderWolves now await the official NCAA selection announcement to confirm the women's team's anticipated return to the national stage later this month in Kenosha.
