PUEBLO, Colo. (Nov. 5, 2025) - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team secured its spot in the RMAC Tournament as the No. 5 seed after a dominant 4–2 victory over UCCS on Wednesday night in the regular season finale at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium. Senior
Nick Cenek (Gr., Peoria, Ill.) delivered his second hat trick of the season to power the ThunderWolves in their Senior Day match.
The Pack jumped out to an early lead when Matty Parkes (So., Newcastle, England) connected on a header off a Joseph Delaney (Fr., Sutton, England) free kick in the 27th minute. Cenek quickly followed with two goals just over 90 seconds apart, the first on another Delaney assist and the second set up by Parkes and Yahel Paramo Caudillo (Jr., Leon, Mexico), to send CSU Pueblo into halftime up 3-0.
Cenek completed his hat trick in the 65th minute, burying a penalty kick to extend the advantage to 4–0. UCCS netted two late goals in the final minutes, but the Pack's early surge proved too much to overcome.
Cenek finished with five shots on goal and his three tallies bring his season total to 11. Parkes added a goal and an assist, while Delaney contributed a pair of helpers to cap a strong midfield performance. Goalkeeper Esteban Gonzalez (Jr., Brussels, Belgium) made two saves to earn his ninth win of the season.
Coach Comments
Head Coach Nick Blackwell praised his team's performance and focus to close the regular season on a high note.
"So proud of my group for the performance tonight, I thought the first 45 minutes we played our best half of the season and thought we showed our best versions of who we are this year," said Blackwell. "Knockout football is all about winning the small margins in the match and I felt like we did exactly what we needed to do put ourselves in a position to win the match. Excited to get to spend more time with our group!"
With the win, CSU Pueblo improves to 9-2-7 overall and finishes 5-2-3 in RMAC play.
