PUEBLO, Colo. - Colorado State University Pueblo Women's Basketball put together its most complete performance of the season on Friday afternoon, snapping a three-game losing streak in emphatic fashion with an 84–34 rout of South Central Region opponent Western New Mexico at Massari Arena. The ThunderWolves controlled all 40 minutes, never trailing and leading for 39:43 of game time.
The Pack set the tone immediately, opening on a 13–2 run fueled by defensive pressure and transition scoring. CSU Pueblo forced 24 turnovers and turned them into 35 points going the other way. Their defensive intensity was matched by a balanced offensive attack, with 11 different ThunderWolves recording points.
Senior leader Genesis Sweetwine was the engine early, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting while adding four assists and a steal. Forward Laci Roffle continued her efficient play, scoring 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting and grabbing six rebounds. Dasani Nesbit provided an all-around spark with seven points, six assists, three rebounds, two steals and two blocks in just 17 minutes.
Senior guard Seneya Martinez showcased her veteran presence and two-way ability with 11 points, five assists, three steals and three blocks, anchoring the Pack on both ends of the floor. Wynter Jones added nine points, two assists and two steals. CSU Pueblo's bench contributed 34 points, highlighted by Jada Bobb's nine points and eight rebounds and Anyla Owens' pair of made threes.
The ThunderWolves shot a season-best 56.9 percent from the field (33-for-58) and 37.5 percent from three (9-for-24). CSU Pueblo dominated the paint 46–18, controlled the glass 41–33, and held a 32–0 advantage in fast-break points. Defensively, the Pack collected 14 steals and six blocks while holding the Mustangs to just 20 percent shooting and 1-for-16 from beyond the arc.
The 34 points allowed marked the program's stingiest defensive performance in nearly three years and the fewest points surrendered since January 4, 2022, when the ThunderWolves held Adams State to just 26 points in an 86–26 victory.
CSU Pueblo led 19–6 after the first quarter, 43–15 at halftime, and extended the margin to as many as 51 points late in the fourth quarter.
With the victory, CSU Pueblo improves to 2–4 overall and picks up a crucial confidence boost heading into the remainder of the schedule. Western New Mexico falls to 0–6 on the season.
The Pack are right back in action tomorrow as they host Northern New Mexico at noon inside Massari Arena, closing out their non-conference slate before shifting their focus to RMAC play.
