Volleyball Sits Sixth in Latest NCAA Division II South Central Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's volleyball team is ranked No. 6 in this week's second NCAA Division II South Central Regional rankings that were released Wednesday afternoon by the NCAA.

The ThunderWolves, who have two matches left in the regular season, are sporting a 17-7 overall record and in third place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings with a 9-3 record. The top eight teams in the final league standings earn a spot in the RMAC Tournament with the top four teams in the league hosting a first round tournament game on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

CSU Pueblo is one of five RMAC schools ranked in this week's second regional rankings as MSU Denver (21-3 D-II, 16-3 in-region) headlines the rankings at No. 1, while UCCS (22-2 D-II, 20-2 in-region) is at No. 3 and Mines (18-6 D-II, 15-6 in-region) is at No. 4 and Colorado Mesa (14-9 D-II, 13-9 in-region) is at No. 9. 

In addition to the five RMAC schools ranked, the rankings also include five schools from the Lone Star Conference with West Texas A&M (21-5 D-II, 20-3 in-region) highlighting those teams at No. 2. Angelo State (19-7 D-II, 18-5 in-region) is at No. 5, Lubbock Christian (22-6 D-II, 20-4 in-region) is at No. 7, Texas Woman's (18-8 D-II, 16-6 in-region) is at No. 8 and Texas A&M-Kingsville (18-7 D-II, 14-7 in-region) rounds out the poll at No. 10. 
On the season, the Pack is 3-6 against teams included in this week's latest South Central Regional rankings. The Pack is  1-0 against Mines, 1-1 against Lubbock Christian, 1-1 against UCCS and is 0-1 against both Colorado Mesa and MSU Denver, and 0-2 against West Texas A&M.

The 64-team NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament will be comprised of eight teams from each of the eight Division II regions and the South Central Region is made up of 15 teams from the RMAC and 18 teams from the LSC. The two conference champions and six at-large teams will make up the eight-team field for the South Central Regional Tournament, which is scheduled for Dec. 4-7 at the site of the highest ranked team in the region. 

The final regular season NCAA Regional Rankings will be released on Wednesday, Nov. 19. The NCAA will announce the 64-team bracket on Monday, Nov. 24.

CSU Pueblo will put its four-match win streak on the line this weekend as they close out the regular season with back-to-back home matches on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. against Western Colorado and Saturday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. against Fort Lewis. The Fort Lewis match will serve as Senior Night for the Pack.
