Pack Women Earn At-Large Bid to NCAA Division II National Championships

PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's cross country team is once again heading to the national stage. The ThunderWolves have officially been selected as an at-large team for the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships, following a strong sixth-place finish at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships held Saturday on their home course at Walking Stick Golf Club.

The announcement, made Monday afternoon by the NCAA, secures CSU Pueblo's third consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships, continuing one of the most successful stretches in program history. The Pack will now travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to compete on November 22 at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course, joining 34 of the nation's top Division II programs.

Road to Nationals

The ThunderWolves earned their at-large bid after an impressive showing in one of the deepest regions in all of Division II cross country. CSU Pueblo finished sixth overall in a field loaded with nationally ranked teams, edging several regional rivals to punch its ticket to the championship meet.

Adams State captured the South Central Regional title with 42 points, followed by UC-Colorado Springs (74 points) and Colorado School of Mines (82 points). All three earned automatic bids to nationals, along with Western Colorado (137 points) and West Texas A&M (155 points). CSU Pueblo's sixth-place finish (175 points) secured the Pack a well-deserved at-large selection.

ThunderWolves Standouts

Leading the charge for CSU Pueblo was senior Camille Renou, who earned All-Region honors with a 20th-place finish in 21:31.8. Renou's effort set the tone for the Pack's balanced and determined lineup. Senior Jadyn Herron, a veteran from last year's national third-place squad, followed as the team's second finisher, helping the ThunderWolves maintain their position among the South Central Region's elite.

Behind them, CSU Pueblo showcased its trademark depth and team chemistry, with multiple runners placing inside the region's top 60. The Pack's consistency throughout the season and their ability to perform under championship pressure were instrumental in securing the national berth.

Coach Morris on the Selection

Head Coach Matt Morris praised his team's commitment and ability to thrive in a loaded regional field.

"It's incredibly rewarding to see this group earn another trip to nationals," Morris said. "To qualify out of the South Central Region for a third straight year is no easy task. This team has battled through one of the toughest regions in the nation, and earning another trip to nationals is a testament to their belief in each other."

Morris also reflected on the program's growth and consistency.

"We've built a culture that expects to compete at this level," he added. "Our women are ready to represent CSU Pueblo and the RMAC against the best in the country."
