SPEARFISH, S.D. (Oct. 5, 2025) — The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team earned its first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference road victory of the season Sunday afternoon, defeating Black Hills State 2-1 at the Black Hills Power Sports Complex.
After conceding an early goal, the ThunderWolves (2-4-3, 1-1-1 RMAC) responded with two unanswered scores and held off a late surge from the Yellow Jackets (4-4-2, 1-3-0 RMAC).
Black Hills State opened the scoring in the 7th minute when the offense found the back of the net off an assist from. The Pack answered less than five minutes later when Jenna Elledge (Fr., Farmington, NM) buried a shot in the 11th minute, finishing a setup from Mara Ganje (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) to even the match at 1-1.
The go-ahead goal came early in the second half as Carlia Johnson (R-Sr., The Valley, Anguilla) tallied her second score of the year in the 49th minute off an assist from Cameron Farthing (Sr., Coventry, England), giving CSU Pueblo a 2-1 advantage it would not relinquish.
Freshman goalkeeper Alva Hellenius (Stockholm, Sweden) anchored the Pack defensively, making four saves—all in the second half—to secure the win despite being outshot 16-5 by the Yellow Jackets. CSU Pueblo recorded three shots on goal, making the most of its offensive chances.
Up next, the ThunderWolves remain on the road, continuing RMAC play Thursday at MSU Denver before wrapping up the trip Sunday at Colorado Christian.
