PUEBLO, Colo. — Colorado State University Pueblo cross country put on a show at home Saturday, as both the men's and women's squads captured team titles at the NCAA South Central Regional Preview on the ThunderWolves' home course, Walking Stick Golf Course.
Women's Race
The Pack women delivered a statement win behind a brilliant run from senior French standout Camille Renou, who captured the individual crown with a time of 21:54.2 in the 6K. Renou controlled the pace throughout before pulling away late to secure the victory.
Junior Olivia Drodz, competing in just her second cross country meet with CSU Pueblo, continued her strong start in the Pack uniform by placing third in 22:24.5. Veteran Jayden Herron added to the podium presence with a seventh-place finish in 22:54.4, showcasing her championship experience and leadership.
Depth proved to be the difference for the ThunderWolves as Lily Smithson (11th), Ella Egizio (12th), and Charlotte Young (13th) all finished tightly together to secure the team victory.
Men's Race
The CSU Pueblo men were equally impressive, dominating their home course with just 26 points to outdistance the field and secure the team crown.
Sophomore Caden Schweer led the Pack charge with a runner-up finish in 25:12.4, just seconds off the top spot. Veteran Kameron Eustace was close behind in third at 25:23, while Jon Sweepe made it three ThunderWolves in the top four after clocking 25:38 for fourth.
Middle-distance All-American Caleb McLeod, competing in cross country for the first time, showed his range with a strong ninth-place finish in 27:12.6. Freshman Nick Hogge, a promising addition out of Texas, rounded out the scoring in 12th at 27:30.6, sealing the ThunderWolves' dominant performance.
With both squads winning convincingly on their home soil, the ThunderWolves proved they will be among the contenders in the South Central Region as the postseason approaches. The women, fueled by Renou's individual title and Drodz's emergence, continue to build momentum toward another national championship push. The men, paced by Schweer, Eustace, and Sweepe, displayed the firepower and depth necessary to challenge for both RMAC and NCAA postseason honors.
The Pack are back in action next weekend as they make the short drive up I-25 to Colorado Springs, competing in the UCCS Open at North Monument Valley Park.
