ThunderWolves Drop 1-0 Decision to No. 10 UCCS, End Four-Match Unbeaten Run

PUEBLO, Colo. (Oct. 19, 2025) — The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team battled nationally ranked No. 10 University of Colorado Colorado Springs for 83 minutes before conceding a late goal in a 1-0 defeat Sunday afternoon at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

The setback ends CSU Pueblo's four-match unbeaten streak as the ThunderWolves (3-5-5, 2-2-3 RMAC) were held to three total shots while goalkeeper Alva Hellenius (Fr., Stockholm, Sweden) turned in an outstanding performance with nine saves.

The two sides played through a scoreless first half with UCCS (10-2-2, 6-1-1 RMAC) holding the edge in shots, 11-0, and testing Hellenius several times early. The Pack's defensive back line, anchored by Evie Wysong (Sr., Bel Air, Maryland), Caytlynn Garland (Jr., Gillette, Wyo.) and Mackenzie Fryxell (Jr., Corona, Calif.), stood firm through much of the match, blocking key opportunities and limiting dangerous looks in the box.

Mara Ganje (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) had a strong outing and help to disrupt several plays at midfield.

The decisive moment came in the 84th minute when UCCS scored off a set piece, and after a scramble in front of the net, the Mountain Lions were able to get enough on the ball and see it land inside the net. Despite a late push that included a pair of corner kicks in the closing minutes, CSU Pueblo couldn't find the equalizer.

Kenna Snyder (Fr., Edmond, Okla.) recorded the Pack's lone shot attempt in the final five minutes, which sailed just wide.

With the result, CSU Pueblo will look to bounce back at home next week.
