SPEARFISH, S.D. – The ninth-ranked Colorado State University Pueblo football team continued its strong play on the road here Saturday afternoon as the ThunderWolves piled up nearly 500 yards of offense and scored at least 40 points for the fourth straight game in posting a 40-14 victory over Black Hills State University in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play at Lyle Hare Stadium.
With the victory, the Pack extended its overall win streak to six games, its road win streak to 13 games and its RMAC win streak to 22 consecutive games and moves to 7-1 on the season and 6-0 in the RMAC, while BHSU falls to 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the RMAC.
The 13-game road win streak and the 22-game RMAC win streak are currently the longest active streaks in Division II football. In addition, the six game win streak is tied for the seventh-longest active streak in Division II.

Philip Vigil said following his 25th win as the Pack coach. "I was proud of how our offense and defense played today and we were able to get everybody involved and also had to battle the elements today, but we found a way to get it done."
For the game, the Pack scored on seven of its 10 possessions in the game, including scoring 27 points on four of its five first half drives.
The Pack finished the game with 498 yards of offense on 74 plays and averaged 6.7 yards per play. On the day, the Pack rushed for 93 yards and passed for a season-high 405 yards, including senior quarterback
Roman Fuller (Decatur, Texas/University of Tulsa) completing 29 of his 40 passes for a season-high 389 yards and had three touchdown passes. The 389 yards passing was the fifth highest mark in a game in school history and the most since he threw for a career-high 435 yards last season at Western Colorado.
With his 389 yards passing, Fuller pushed his career passing yardage mark to 4,037 yards and his career passing touchdown total to 40. Fuller is now one of three quarterbacks in school history to throw for more than 4,000 career yards and 40 career touchdown passes.
In addition to Fuller, redshirt senior receiver
Reggie Retzlaff (Corona, Calif./Riverside City College) became the school's all-time leader in career receptions as he caught six passes for 84 yards to push his career total to 161 receptions and his career yardage total to 2,618. He is now the school's all-time record holder for career receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.

Zack Rakowsky caught nine passes for a game-high 135 yards. With his nine receptions, he pushed his career total to 139, which is fourth on the school's all-time list and pushed his career yardage mark to 1,953 yards, which is fourth on the school's all-time list.
In the opening half, the Pack offense scored on four of its five possessions as they gained 283 yards of offense, including Fuller going 19-for-28 passing for 251 yards and two touchdown passes.
The Pack took the opening kickoff and drove 55 yards in nine plays and capped the drive with a 37-yard field goal from junior kicker

On its second possession of the game, the Pack drove 76 yards in 12 plays and capped the drive with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Fuller to
Marcellus Honeycutt, Jr. (Denver, Colo./Eastern Washington) to take a 10-0 lead with 3:34 left in the opening quarter.
The Pack defense got into the scoring column on BHSU's next possession as junior linebacker
Bryson Torrie (Denver, Colo./Vista Peak) picked a Dylan Eldredge pass and returned it 49 yards for a touchdown to give the Pack a 17-0 lead with 35 seconds left in the first quarter. The interception was the 15th this season for the Pack and Torrie's third defensive touchdown of the season. The Pack has now scored four defensive touchdowns this season, which is tied for tops in Division II.
BHSU would finally dent the scoreboard just four minutes into the second quarter on a 10-yard run by Danny Davis to cap a 10-play, 82-yard drive by the Yellow Jackets.
Later in the second quarter, the Pack extended its lead to 24-7 following a 15-yard touchdown pass from Fuller to junior receiver
Dedrek Taylor-Akins (Fontana, Calif./Northeastern State) with 2:04 left in the first half.
The Pack added to its lead right before the half as Smith kicked a 31-yard field goal with eight seconds left in the second period to give the Pack a 27-7 lead at the half.
After BHSU went three-and-out on the opening possession of the third quarter, the Pack got the ball near midfield and drove 49 yards in four plays and capped the drive with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Fuller to Taylor-Akins to push the Pack's lead to 34-7 with 11:04 left in the third quarter. Taylor-Akins finished the game with six catches for 43 yards in the win.
On the ensuing possession, the Yellow Jackets drove the ball 75 yards in 12 plays that was aided by five Pack penalties to cut the Pack's lead to 34-14 following a 3-yard touchdown run by Davis with 4:36 left in the third quarter.
The Pack, though, responded on its next possession as they drove 59 yards in 11 plays and capped the drive with a 43-yard field goal by Smith with 11 seconds left in the period to give the Pack a 37-14 lead.
After the Yellow Jackets were forced to punt on its next drive, the Pack drove 59 yards in 10 plays and capped the drive with a 38-yard field goal by Smith to push the Pack's lead to 40-14 with nine minutes left in the game.
On the day, Smith tied a single-game school record with four made field goals and finished the game with a school record 16 points, as along with his four field goals, he was a perfect 4-for-4 on his extra point attempts. He now shares the four field goal record with Greg O'Donnell, who made four field goals in 2015 against Midwestern State, and Nathan Taylor, who made four field goals against Colorado Mesa in 2016.
While the Pack offense gained nearly 500 yards and scored 40 points, the Pack defense once again stepped up as they limited the Yellow Jackets to a total of 199 yards of offense as they rushed for 79 yards on 35 carries (2.3 yards per carry) and passed for 110 yards as their quarterback were 12-for-21 passing in the game. For the game, BHSU ran a total of 56 plays and averaged just 3.6 yards per play.
Eldredge was 11-for-20 passing for 121 yards in the game, while Cameron Goods rushed the ball 17 times for 67 yards and Gavin Porch caught three passes for 62 yards to pace the Yellow Jackets.
CSU Pueblo's defense, though, held BHSU receiver TJ Chukwurah to just three catches for 10 yards. Chukwurah entered the game leading Division II in receiving yards (716) and touchdown passes (12).
The Pack defense also recorded two sacks and eight tackles for a loss and had three quarterback hurries.

Jusiah Sampleton (Giddings, Texas/Giddings) paced the Pack defense with seven tackles and 2.5 tackles for a loss, while senior safety
Peyton Shaw (Savannah, Texas/Midwestern State) and junior linebacker
Gary Seidenberger (Fredericksburg, Texas/Fredericksburg) each tallied six tackles in the game.
The Pack will have a bye week next Saturday before returning to action on Saturday, Nov. 1 for a 1:05 p.m. RMAC contest in Gunnison, Colo., against fifth-ranked Western Colorado, who improved to 7-0 overall and 5-0 on the RMAC on Saturday with a 34-13 win at South Dakota Mines.
