ThunderWolves Drop First Match of Season at South Dakota Mines, 2-0

RAPID CITY, S.D. (Oct. 12, 2025) — The No. 11 ranked Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Sunday afternoon, falling 2–0 on the road at South Dakota Mines in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play at Dakota Fields.

After a tightly contested first half, the Hardrockers (6-3-2, 1-3-0 RMAC) broke through twice in the second frame to down the ThunderWolves (4-1-7, 0-1-3 RMAC). The Rockers opened the scoring in the 59th minute, and added an insurance tally in the 71st minute to secure the win for South Dakota Mines.

The Pack generated offensive opportunities with seven total shots, including five on target, but were unable to break through against Mines goalkeeper Daniel Freitas, who made five saves to preserve the clean sheet. Nick Cenek (Gr., Peoria, Ill.) paced CSU Pueblo with two shots on goal, while So Nagano (Sr., Kobe, Japan), Will Boyle (R-Jr., Fort Collins, Colo.), and Yahel Paramo Caudillo (Jr., Leon, Mexico) each added one attempt on frame.

Goalkeeper Esteban Gonzalez (Jr., Brussels, Belgium) made one save in 90 minutes of play for the ThunderWolves. CSU Pueblo also earned seven corner kicks on the afternoon and showed composure despite a physical match.
