COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's cross country team sent eight runners to compete at the UCCS Open, held at North Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs, as the ThunderWolves continued their strong fall campaign against top regional competition.
Leading the Pack in the 8k was junior Kameron Eustace, who clocked a time of 25:22.4 to finish second overall in the 8K race. Sophomore Jon Sweepe was close behind in third at 25:25.9, while freshman Caden Schweer impressed with a fourth-place finish at 25:31.0, giving the ThunderWolves three runners inside the top four overall.
Rounding out the scoring pack, sophomore Tim Anstett placed 18th in 26:39.0, and freshman Caleb McLeod followed in 21st with a time of 26:44.1. Freshman Nick Hogge (30th, 27:13.2) and junior Aaron Roberds (32nd, 27:18.2) added strong depth, while freshman Jonathan Charpentier (53rd, 28:19.0) and freshman Bernardo Sada (55th, 28:30.4) rounded out the Pack's eight competitors.
CSU Pueblo's front-running trio of Eustace, Sweepe, and Schweer kept the ThunderWolves among the meet leaders throughout, highlighting a balanced mix of veteran experience and emerging freshmen talent.
"We wanted to see our guys race with composure and confidence, and they did that today," said head coach Matt Morris. "Our top three ran exceptionally well up front, and we're continuing to build the depth we need heading into championship season."
The ThunderWolves will now turn their focus toward the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, scheduled for October 25 once again at North Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs.
