ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo cross country teams had a strong showing in their season opener at the Joe Vigil Open in Alamosa, Colo. in Adams States' home meet.
The No. 5 ranked women's team finished in second place behind the No. 1 ranked Adams State Grizzlies, accumulating 46 total points. Adams State finished the meet with 18 points.Â
Jadyn Herron (Queen Creek, Ariz./Casteel) led the way for the Pack with a sixth place finish and a time of 17:51.11.Â
Margot Thomas-Gatel (Chapet, Ile-de-France, France) finished right behind Herron-Jonap with an eighth place finish and a time of 17:55.62.Â
The Pack were bunched up in the top ten, as
Leah Keisler (Biggar, United Kingdom) finished in ninth with a time of 17:58.57, while All-American
Helen Braybrook (Frieston, United Kingdom) finished tenth with a time of 18:00.12.Â
Camille Renou (Chalonnes, France) rounded out the scoring for the women with a 13th place finish and a time of 18:32.08.Â
The No. 13 ranked men's team also finished second behind the No. 6 ranked Adams State Grizzlies, putting together 47 points. Adams State finished with 27 points to win the meet.
Kameron Eustace (Zuni, N.M./Zuni) had the best finish for the Pack as he finished sixth with a time of 24:43.17.
Matisse Virey (Meyzieu, France) finished right behind Eustace with a seventh place finish and a time of 24:46.65,
Kaleb Beloy (Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage) rounded out the top-10 for the Pack with a ninth place finish and a time of 24:50.53.
All-American Reece Sharman-Newel (Hampshire, England) finished in 24th, while
Kaleb Tipton (Lawton, Okla./Eisenhower) finished in 25th.

"Very strong first competition for both teams. Everyone executed a well as could be expected for a first meet, and I was impressed with both the focus and communication on both sides. Great start to the season, and we now have a better idea of what we are doing well and what we can work on to improve."
