PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team kick off their 2024 campaign as they host the Steel City Showcase in Massari Arena.

Teams attending the tournament include Lake Superior State University, Cal State East Bay, Eastern New Mexico University, Lubbock Christian, and Minnesota-Crookston.

The Pack are coming off a 2023 season which saw the squad go 13-14 overall, and 10-4 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The ThunderWolves fell in the RMAC Tournament Quarterfinals to finish off the '23 season. It was the first time since 2019 that the Pack did not qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

In the preseason coaches' poll, the Pack were picked to finish fifth.

CSU Pueblo returns 11 players from a 2023 team that finished 13-14 overall, and 10-4 in RMAC play to finish fifth. The Pack qualified for the RMAC Tournament, but failed to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in Head Coach Austin Albers five seasons leading the Pack.

Albers is an impressive 77-50 as he enters year six leading the Pack, with a winning percentage of 0.649. 

The ThunderWolves will rely heavily on their 2023 All-American outside hitter Sadie Scoville (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove), who is coming off a historic '23 campaign which saw Scoville being second on the team (291) and kills per set (2.80) and led the Pack in digs (318), digs per set (3.06) and was also second in aces with 37, fourth in blocks with 46 and hit .257. Additionally, she led the team with 13 double-doubles and posted 18 double-digit kills matches. In RMAC play, she recorded 162 kills and averaged 3.00 kills, 3.31 digs and 0.52 blocks and 0.33 aces per set.

The Pack open the Steel City Showcase tomorrow night at 7:00 PM in Massari Arena in a Red Out Game. Fans are encouraged to wear red, and the first 100 students who sit in the Pepsi Student Section will receive a red volleyball shirt.
