Pack women's soccer battles at No. 3 Mines

GOLDEN, Colo. (September 29, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team continued Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play on the road Sunday and battled No. 3 ranked Colorado School of Mines in a 2-0 loss at Stermole Stadium.

For the ThunderWolves, Cortney Cowles (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), Sydney Lasater (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Jerzie Troost (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) each fired two shots to lead the team's seven shots total.

Mines scored one goal in each half en route to the RMAC win.

CSU Pueblo recorded the first shot and shot on frame early in the game during the 4' from Troost and she was able to register another SOG shortly after and Mines goalkeeper Allie Lundgren made two saves at the net.

The Orediggers earned their first SOG in the 31' and would find the back of the net in the 39' and take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

At the break, CSU Pueblo made four shots and earned one corner.

In the second half, Mines extended the lead with a goal coming in the 56th minute for a two goal lead.

The Pack managed two additional shots after going down by two as the Orediggers defense collapsed on every ball and attempt the ThunderWolves put forth.

Pack goalkeeper Elaina Leitner (Fr., Longmont, Colo.) faced 21 shots total and made five saves against seven SOG.

CSU Pueblo (1-5-2, 0-2-0 RMAC) will return home next week and host MSU Denver on Thursday at 7 p.m. and will battle Colorado Christian on Sunday at 1 p.m., both matches at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
