Volleyball Sweeps Friday Night Match Versus Black Hills State; Improves To 3-0 In Conference Play

PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Volleyball squad defeated Black Hills State University in three sets on Friday night at Massari Arena.

With the win, the Pack improve to 8-3 on the season and 3-0 in conference play, while Black Hills State falls to 4-7 overall and 0-3 in RMAC play.

Sadie Scoville (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove) led the way for the Pack, recording another double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs, all while hitting .500. 

Kaitlyn Hall (Colorado Springs, Colo./Falcon), and Rayliene Joens (Elkhorn, Neb./Winona State) both had nine kills. 

Braelyn Woodworth (Gilbert, Ariz./Perry) had another fantastic defensive performance with eight digs, only behind Scoville in that category.

ABOUT THE WIN

CSU Pueblo started the match off hot against the underdog Yellow Jackets, up 8-4 with kills from Macy Wood (Sandy, Utah/Alta), Megan Mattingly (Phoenix, Ariz./Greenway), Hall, and Joens. 

Up 8-4, Black Hills State made a mini-run, tying the game at ten apiece, but the Pack answered with a 4-0 run to extend their lead to 14-10. 

Black Hills made one more run in the set, making the score 20-19, but the Pack responded with a 5-0 run with kills from from Hall and Wood, along with a service ace from Scoville to win the first set.

CSU Pueblo took the second set 25-19, with little resistance from the Yellow Jackets.

The Pack opened up with an 11-5 lead, with four points being as close as Black Hills State was able to get. 

Joens led the way for the ThunderWolves in the second with five kills.

The ThunderWolves absolutely dominated the third set, looking to end the match in three, as the Pack opened up a 14-5 lead. 

Scoville and Hall dominated the third with eight kills between the two. 

UP NEXT FOR THE PACK
The Pack are back in action tomorrow with an important match against South Dakota Mines tomorrow at 3:00 PM. The Hardrockers knocked out the Pack last season in the RMAC Tournament.
