DURANGO, Colo. (September 27, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team began Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play on Friday, falling 3-1 at Fort Lewis College at Dirks Field in Durango.
Sydney Lasater (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) fired a laser of a shot into the back of the net during the 14th minute to put the ThunderWolves on top early, 1-0.
The Skyhawks tied the score a few minutes later and would take a one goal lead in the 25th minute on a throw in by FLC, resulted in a goal from the Skyhawks.
In the match, Lasater and
Jerzie Troost (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) accounted for six of the nine shots from the Pack.
The Skyhawks added a third goal in the 28th minute after FLC booted the ball above the ThunderWolves defense and connected the ball to a FLC striker who was able to gather the ball and fire a shot from 25 yards away from the net for the score.
At the break, FLC led 10-8 in shots and had earned five corners.
The second half was heavily in favor of the Skyhawks, as FLC limited the Pack to only one shot in the period that sailed high above the net.
In the net,
Elaina Leitner (Fr., Longmont, Colo.) surrendered three goals and made six saves for the Pack.
CSU Pueblo (1-4-2, 0-1-0 RMAC) will face another tough opponent in No. 3 Mines on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. at Stermole Soccer Stadium in Golden.
