EDMOND, Okla. (September 19, 2024) - The No. 15 ranked Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team played on the road for the first time this season and benifitted from a second half goal scored by
Shjon Andrews (Gr., Longmont, Colo.) to help the ThunderWolves past Oklahoma Christian 1-0 on Thursday at Eagle Soccer Field.
The only score of the contest came during the 76' when Andrews received a ball from
George Tidmarsh (So., Birmingham, England) to break the scoreless affair.
In the game, CSU Pueblo dominated offensively and recorded 15 shots, including nine SOG against four shots (2 SOG) for OCU.
CSU Pueblo Head Coach
Oliver Twelvetrees was pleased with the effort put forth tonight from his team and said, "Big time performance from the lads today. We battled and fought for each other all over the park!" He added, "Another clean sheet from the team and a fantastic execution from George and Shjon to create the winner!"
The ThunderWolves back line played another flawless game defensively and with the strong play from Andrews,
Giancarlo Pretto (Sr., Lajeado Rio Grande Do Sul, Brazil),
Alon Firdman (Sr., Barcelona, Spain), and
Ignatius DeMark (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) helped CSU Pueblo goalkeeper
Ruben Volkert (Gr., Baden-Württemberg, Germany) to earn yet another clean sheet victory.
In the contest, three Pack players led both teams with three shots. Andrews,Â
Caio Oliveira (Sr., Espigao d'Oeste, Brazil) and
Tobi Osifodunrin (Sr., Brighton, Colo.) each finished with three shots.
The ThunderWolves offensive attack was alive and active from the start, as they recorded nine shots and four corner kicks in the first half.
In the second period, the Pack offense continued to pressure the home team and fire shot after shot and kept the home team on the defensive side of the pitch.
The Pack's steady attack was rewarded in the 76' when CSU Pueblo earned their fourth of five corners in the half and Andrews did what he does best and leaped above the defense and was able to get a header on the ball and re-directed into the net, for his third goal of the season.
At the net, Volkert made one save and faced four shots from OCU.
Up next, CSU Pueblo (4-1) will stay in Edmond, Okla. and take on Rogers State on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. (MT) at Eagle Soccer Field.
