PREVIEW: Volleyball Set For Big Weekend In Northern California

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team is back in action after a 4-0 opening weekend, traveling to the Bay Area to compete in the Route 92 Classic hosted by San Francisco State and Cal State East Bay.

CSU Pueblo will open with with San Francisco State (1-2) tomorrow at 5:00 PM MST on the Gators home court. SFSU has played a tough schedule to begin the season, dropping a five-setter to No. 22 Central Washington, dropping a three-setter to No. 7 MSU Denver, and defeating Western Washington in three sets. 

In game two, the Pack will face off against Sonoma State University (1-2) at 10:00 AM in Hayward, Calif. Sonoma State was dropped in three sets to Western Washington, dropped in three sets to MSU Denver, and won 3-1 over Central Washington in their opening weekend.

Game three features CSU Pueblo and Cal State East Bay (2-2) on Friday at 8:00 PM MST. Cal State East Bay played in the Steel City Showcase to open their season, dropping the first two games against Minnesota Crookston and Lubbock Christian, and defeating Lake Superior State and Eastern New Mexico to conclude the tournament. 

TheThunderWolves conclude the weekend with a Saturday Matinee with the University of Hawaii at Hilo (4-2). Hawaii Hilo in their opening weekend went 2-0 in the Hawaii-Alaska Challenge, and went 2-2 in their home tournament. 

ABOUT THE PACK:
CSU Pueblo is led by All-American Sadie Scoville (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove). Scoville is coming off winning Tournament MVP in the Steel City Showcase, as the junior blasted 50 kills over the four-game stretch, with a 3.85 kills per set average. Scoville also made her presence on the defensive end, as she leads the team in digs with 37.

Rayliene Joens (Elkhorn, Neb./Winona State) has been an early weapon for Head Coach Austin Albers, as the senior transfer leads in the team in blocks with 12, and is second in kills behind Scoville with 38. 

Kaitlyn Hall (Colorado Springs, Colo./Falcon), has also been an early season weapon for Albers, as the redshirt freshman who Albers claims is "the best athlete on the team" has recorded 24 kills with a 1.85 kills per set average.

Freshman Hallie Hewlett (Bountiful, Utah/Bountiful) had an incredible debut to her collegiate career, as the Utah native recorded 60 assists in her first weekend. Sabrina King (Parker, Colo./Lutheran) continued her dominance as a setter for the Pack, leading the team with 64 assists.
