LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's golf team is in first place after day one of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.
The ThunderWolves shot a dominant first round score of even par (288) to lead the tournament by nine strokes over second place Regis (297). With a win this week, that would secure a postseason berth for CSU Pueblo and first year head coach
Tammy Lim.
Boulder Creek Golf Club is playing at 6055 yards this week on the par 72 track.
The Pack were led by sophomore phenom
Freya Constable (Edinburgh, Scotland/Boroghmuir) as she fired a first-round score of three under par (69) to set the pace for the field as she sits in a tie for first place.
The ThunderWolves had three girls shoot rounds of one over (73) to complement Constable. RMAC Player of the Year hopeful
Kylie Severin (Aurora, Colo./Vista Peak Prep) shot a one over round, along with junior
Anju Ogi (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West), and junior
Zoey Rodriguez (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo South).
Rounding out the ThunderWolves top five was freshman
Lisa Ekberg (Kingsbacka, Sweeden) as the European shot a first-round score of three over par (75).

After the round we caught up with head coach
Tammy Lim. Lim said "The girls played amazing today! As crazy to say, there were a lot of missed shots out there. The vibes are good right now and they are going into tomorrow with the same mindset as today. Just have fun and play for each other."
