PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Volleyball Team is set to host Family Night on Friday Night, and Senior Night on Saturday, looking to finish their home season with a near perfect record.
The Pack are 10-1 this season at home, and will look to add two more wins to that total, as they host Western Colorado University on Friday Night, and Fort Lewis College on Saturday night.Â
The ThunderWolves will have their family members escort the players on Friday versus Western Colorado, and will honor
Sabrina King (Parker, Colo./Lutheran),
Josey Nunn (Kingwood, Texas/Porter), and
Rayliene Joens (Elkhorn, Neb./Winona State) for Senior Night versus Fort Lewis.
CSU Pueblo sits in a three-way tie with Western Colorado, and Colorado Christian University at 6-4 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, with the top-eight teams qualifying for the conference tournament with just four games remaining.
Western Colorado is 11-12 overall (6-4 RMAC), while Fort Lewis is 9-14 overall (5-6 RMAC).
ABOUT THE PACK
The ThunderWolves come into the weekend with a 13-9 overall record, sitting on the bubble of the NCAA Tournament. A 4-0 finish to the season would go a long way for the Pack. The ThunderWolves finish the season with the homestand this weekend, and then on the road next weekends at UCCS and Regis.
The Pack are led on the offensive end by their 2023 All-American
Sadie Scoville (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove). Scoville, who has missed the last few games with an injury, still leads the Pack in kills with 192 on the season, while hitting .254.
Freshman
Hallie Hewlett (Bountiful, Utah/Bountiful), continues to impress, not being fazed with her lack of collegiate volleyball experience. The Utah native leads the team in assists with 380, emerging as one of the best setters in the RMAC.
Macy Wood (Sandy, Utah/Alta) anchors the defense, as the high-flying Middle leads the Pack with 44 blocks.
Megan Mattingly (Phoenix, Ariz./Greenway) is the team leader in digs with 169. Mattingly is one of the conference's best two-way threats, as she also has 73 kills.
The Pack are led by Head Coach
Austin Albers, who is in his sixth season leading the ThunderWolves. Albers has improved his career record to 90-59, which is second all-time in CSU Pueblo history.
ABOUT WESTERN COLORADO
Friday's Match will be a huge one with CSU Pueblo, as both sit in a tie for fifth place in the RMAC. Both CSU Pueblo and Western Colorado are both sitting in a good spot to make the RMAC Tournament, but both squads are looking to move up into the top-four in the RMAC, in order to host an RMAC Tournament Match.
Western Colorado is coming off a three-game winning streak, defeating South Dakota Mines, New Mexico Highlands, and Black Hills State to propel themselves to 6-4 in RMAC play.
The Mountaineers are led on the offensive end by Seyun Park, and Nur Turkmenoglu. Park has 266 kills, while Turkmenoglu has 870 assists, which is second in the conference.
On the defensive end, the Mountaineers are led by Kyra Kidd, and Chinaru Inoue. Kidd has 69 blocks, while Inoue has 399 digs.
ABOUT FORT LEWIS
Fort Lewis comes into Saturday's Match fighting for their playoff lives. The Skyhawks are 9-14 overall, and 5-6 in RMAC play, sitting a half game back of eighth place Westminster.
The Skyhawks are led on the offensive end by Alina Nunez, and Natalia Lambos. Nunez has 199 kills, while Lambos has 804 assists.
On the defensive end, Fort Lewis is led by Ella Butler, and Emery Pomroy. Butlerhas 47 blocks, while Pomroy has 253 digs.
