PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Women's Basketball Team completed the Thanksgiving Classic 2-0, dominating Northern New Mexico on Saturday evening 75-46.
With the win, the ThunderWolves boost themselves above .500 for the first time this season, improving their record to 4-3 overall on the season. With the loss, the Eagles of Northern New Mexico fall to 6-9 on the season.
The Pack were led by who else other than their All-American
Alisha Little (Aurora, Colo./Northern Colorado), as the senior big went off once again, one night after becoming the school record holder in blocks. Little finished the night with 31 points and 10 rebounds, while recording six steals and four blocks.
Brynae Stewart (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) had her first career double-double, finishing the night with 15 points (career-high) and 10 rebounds (career-high).Â
Landri Hudson (Aurora, Colo./Wyoming) and
Yara Garcia (Scottsbluff, Neb./Western Nebraska) also gave the Pack balanced scoring, putting together 15 points between the two.
ABOUT THE WIN
The ThunderWolves started the game off hot and never looked back, dominating with their size.Â
Opening up with an 11-2 run sparked from Hudson knocking down two quick threes, and Stewart adding another one, one night after the Pack only made two trees.Â
The Pack were able to hold their lead close to that number, eventually taking a 21-13 lead after one behind eight points from Little.
CSU Pueblo extended their lead to 17 at 30-13, sparked by a run from Garcia and Stewart.Â
The Pack once again extended their lead, this time to 22 when the freshman
Brooklyn Meza (Windsor, Colo./Roosevelt) entered the game for Little to give her a breather, making a nice play to get her on the board.
CSU Pueblo took a lead into the brewak at 39-19, behind Little's 14 first-half points.Â
The Pack extended their lead to 25 in the third quarter on two different occasions behind buckets from Little and Garcia, and even led at one point 53-27.Â
The ThunderWolves ended the third up big, leading 57-34.
The Pack had their biggest lead of the night at 31 in the fourth quarter, when freshman
Diamond Stevenson (Glendale, Ariz./Deer Valley) picked up her first collegiate points, making a beautiful euro step layup.
