Women's Soccer celebrates Parents Night against Adams State

PUEBLO, Colo. (October 31, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team hosted its annual Parents Night on Thursday and played Adams State University to a 0-0 scoreless draw at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

Prior to the game, Pack Head Coach John Constable and his team honored and recognized the parents, family members of the ThunderWolves who were in attendance.

The ThunderWolves dominated the match offensively and out shot the Grizzlies 14-6 and made six SOG. Both teams earned two corners.

Sydney Lasater (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) led all players with four shots including two SOG. Caytlynn Garland (So., Gillette, Wyo.) made three shots and two SOG along with two shots each from Mara Ganje (Jr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) and Abby Menk (So., Delano, Minn.).

Pack goalkeeper Elaina Leitner (Fr., Longmont, Colo.) made four saves against six total shots from ASU.

In the first half, CSU Pueblo had several good looks at the net and each attempt went wide of the net or was saved from Adams State goalkeeper Ashlyn Bartley.

Leitner faced two SOG and saved both attempts and Bartley made two saves in the first half.

In the final period, the Grizzlies made the first shot on goal before the ThunderWolves responded with a shot and corner kick that resulted in a shot on goal from Menk in the 57th minute.

The offense kept the Grizzlies defense on their heels as Garland drove the ball down the near side and her shot was saved.

The next possession for Adams State gave them a corner and a flurry of shots including two SOG were corralled in by Leitner.

Over the final twenty minutes of action, the Pack made five more shots and had two more good chances at the net on shots from Garland and Lasater.

A free kick in the 79th minute gave CSU Pueblo another chance at the net and Lasater took the kick and her shot went out and wide of the net.

Adams made one more attempt in the 85th and was saved before the Pack responded with one more SOG with 75 seconds left in regulation but again Bartley made the save.

CSU Pueblo (3-9-4, 2-6-2 RMAC) will finish the home portion of its schedule on Sunday and celebrate Senior Day. The ThunderWolves host New Mexico Highlands for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff at Gonzales Stadium.

Before the game, the ThunderWolves will honor and celebrate their departing seniors playing in their last home games as members of the Pack.
