PREVIEW: Volleyball Looks To Remain Perfect In RMAC Play; Go For Seven In A Row Vs. Regis

PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Volleyball team plays their second home match of the week, welcoming in the Regis Rangers to Massari Arena tomorrow night at 7:00 PM for Homecoming/Alumni Night.

CSU Pueblo is riding a hot streak, winning six games in a row to improve their overall record to 10-3, and 4-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Most recently the ThunderWolves defeated the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Tuesday Night for their annual So Long Summer match, easily defeating the Mountain Lions three games to none.

Tuesday Nights games did not count as an official RMAC game, rather it counted as a Pod Victory.

ABOUT THE PACK

The Pack are led by their All-American Sadie Scoville (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove), as the junior leads the squad with 167 kills (3.80 Kills Per Set), which also ranks third in the conference. Scoville is also a defensive showstopper, as she leads the team in digs with 123. Scoville has 20 blocks on the season, and is really solid serving, as she ranks second on the squad with 18 service aces. In addition to her early season wonders, Scoville won the Steel City Showcase Most Valuable Player to start the season. So it is safe to say, she likes playing home matches.

Two freshman, Hallie Hewlett (Bountiful, Utah/Bountiful), and Natalie Hamann (Monument, Colo./Lewis Palmer) have really been an early season spark for Head Coach Austin Albers. Hewlett has stepped up in the absence of Sabrina King (Parker, Colo./Lutheran), leading the team in assists with 236, which also ranks 12th in the RMAC.

After a slow start in last Saturday's match versus South Dakota Mines, Albers, who was looking for a spark off the bench, inserted Hamann, who had not played all that much in her freshman season, and she delivered. Hamann in the match had 11 digs, earning her tons of playing time in the UCCS match on Tuesday night, as she recorded three digs, and two service aces.

Libero Braelyn Woodworth (Gilbert, Ariz./Perry) has come on strong durin the ThunderWolves winning streak, as the sophomore has been a really solid asset defensively for the Pack, recording 75 digs.

Rayliene Joens (Elkhorn, Neb./Winona State) seems to finally be healthy, as she has put together her two best games of the season in back to back performances. In last Saturday's match versus South Dakota Mines, Joens had 10 kills, hitting an impressive .588. She followed it up on Tuesday night with an even better performance, recording 10 kills, while hitting .643.

ABOUT THE RANGERS

Regis comes into Friday nights matchup with a 5-7 overall record, and a 3-1 record in RMAC play, most recently defeating New Mexico Highlands three games to none last Saturday.

The Rangers are led on the offensive end by Halle Theis, who has 134 kills on the season, putting together an average of 3.19 kills per set.

Reagan Hickey, who has played all 42 sets for the Rangers, leads the team in assists with 449, averaging 10.79 per set, which is third in the RMAC.

Braiziah Dixon leads the RMAC in hitting percentage at .448. Dixon has played in 37 of the 42 sets this year.

Amelia Davis and Bre Skala anchor the defense for Regis. Davis is third in the RMAC with 55 blocks and an average of 1.31 per set, while Skala is second in the RMAC in Digs with an average of 4.86 per set.

The Rangers are led by Head Coach Joel List who is in his eighth season leading Regis University. List has been with the Rangers for 19 seasons. List owns a 154-47 (.766) overall record, winning the RMAC regular season twice, and the RMAC Tournament three times.
