PUEBLO, Colo. (October 20, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team welcomed Black Hills State University to town for a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match-up and the Pack used a balanced offensive attack and a strong showing on defense and beat the Yellow Jackets 3-0 on Sunday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
With the victory, CSU Pueblo earns a hard-fought three conference points heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
Three players found the back of the net for the Pack with two first half goals scored by
Abby Menk (So., Delano, Minn.) and
Ariadna Membrives Lora (Sr., Sabadell, Barcelona) scored in the 33rd minute and ten minutes later, in the 43rd minute to put the ThunderWolves ahead.
Lorena Vargas-Galvan (So., Mexico City, Mexico) scored her first goal of the season in the 69th minute and helped seal the win.
"It was a must win game for us today against a well coached team that have been doing well of late," said CSU Pueblo Head Coach John Constable. "Proud of our players for getting the job done. The impact from those coming off the bench was very important."
Elaina Leitner (Fr., Longmont, Colo.) was stellar once again at the net for the Pack and made two saves in the game including a huge penalty save in the 56th minute after being handed a caution.
For the match, CSU Pueblo registered eight shots from eight different players. The ThunderWolves fired five shots on goal against five total shots and two SOG from BHSU.
Kia Comstock (R-Sr., Rock Springs, Wyo.) and
Sydney Lasater (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) both earned assists on two of the three scores.
The Pack offense was active all game and earned five corners while the defensive unit helped limit the Yellow Jackets to only two corners.

CSU Pueblo (3-7-3, 2-4-1 RMAC) will go on the road next week and play Friday at Westminster and Sunday at Colorado Mesa.
