ThunderWolves score season-high five goals in victory over Adams State

PUEBLO, Colo. (October 17, 2024) - The No. 7 ranked Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team scored a season-high five goals en route to a 5-1 victory over Adams State University in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Thursday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

Tobi Osifodunrin (Sr., Brighton, Colo.) totaled five points and scored two goals and one assist, combined with scores from Giancarlo Pretto (Sr., Lajeado Rio Grande Do Sul, Brazil), Jose Bustamante (Jr., Davie, Fla.), and Logan Cozier (R-Fr., Pickering, Ontario) all helped the ThunderWolves in the win.

Senior Caio Oliveira (Espigao d'Oeste, Brazil) tallied two assists along with a dime from Shjon Andrews (Gr., Longmont, Colo.) and Osifodunrin.

In the match, CSU Pueblo dominated offensively and recorded 19 shots and had 12 SOG. Osifodunrin led all players with five shots and three SOG. Bustamante and Oliveira both registered three shots for the Pack.

CSU Pueblo got on the board in the 11th minute following a play inside the Pack's offensive zone and Oliveira sent in a corner that found Andrews and after a blocked shot, Osifodunrin found the loose ball and put it into the back of the net for the early 1-0 lead.

The ThunderWolves added to the lead in the 26th minute after Pretto scored his third goal of the season on a pass from Oliveira.

At halftime, the Pack carried the 2-0 lead and fired 11 shots against one shot from ASU. Through 45-minutes, the ThunderWolves earned four corners.

In the second half, the Pack offense continued the solid play and Osifodunrin was able to possess the ball inside the final half of the pitch and created enough space and fired a shot past the diving ASU goalkeeper.

The ThunderWolves continued the offensive attack and found the net again in the 66th minute after Osifodunrin made a pass through the defense and found the foot of Bustamante who was able to finish for his first goal of the season.

Adams State got on the board shortly after in the 68th minute on a goal scored from Ranulfo Lopez.

CSU Pueblo increased the lead again in the 88th minute after Cozier gathered a loose ball and scored his first goal of the season and capped the scoring for the Pack.

At the net, Ryan Nun (So., Broomfield, Colo.) allowed one goal and made two saves against six shots and three SOG.

CSU Pueblo (9-2-1, 4-0 RMAC) stays home and welcomes (RV) Fort Lewis for a Sunday match-up starting at 2:30 p.m. at Gonzales Stadium.
