CSU Pueblo earns draw at Western Colorado

GUNNISON, Colo. (October 11, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team earned one-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference point following a 1-1 draw on Thursday at Western Colorado at Katy O. Rady Field in Gunnison.

In the match, Jerzie Troost (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) scored the Pack's only goal during the 37' and even the score after Western Colorado took the lead minutes before in the 35' minute.

For the game, CSU Pueblo recorded 17 shots, led by Cortney Cowles (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and her five shots and one SOG.

Sydney Lasater (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Caytlynn Garland (So., Gillette, Wyo.) both fired four shots and one SOG in the game.

Western Colorado took a short lead and was quickly responded by Troost, who took a free kick and blasted a shot into the net and even the score at 1-1 shortly before halftime.

At the break, the Pack fired nine shots against two from WCU.

The ThunderWolves earned one corner in the first half.

In the second period, the teams continued to battle and the teams combined for 14 shots. CSU Pueblo fired six shots in the second half.

The ThunderWolves best scoring chance game after a flurry of two shots and one SOG that was saved by WCU goalkeeper Aubree Orosco.

Pack goalkeeper Elaina Leitner (Fr., Longmont, Colo.) made three saves against four SOG and eight total shots.

CSU Pueblo (2-6-3, 1-3-1 RMAC) will get back on the pitch next week and welcome Regis on Thursday starting at 4 p.m. at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
