COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Cross Country Teams concluded the regular season with a bang, as the men won the event, and the women finished runner-up.
This marks the first win on the season for either squad. The No. 10 ranked men's squad scored 36 points to win the event easily, defeating numerous Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools, and two Division I programs. Colorado State University finished runner-up to the men with 78 points.
The men were led by
Matisse Virey (Meyzieu, France) as the Frenchmen won the race with an official time of 25:02.1 in the 8k event.
Finishing right behind Virey was
Kameron Eustace (Zuni, N.M./Zuni), as the junior had a subperb fifth place finish, running a time of 25:25.8.
Kaleb Beloy (Anchorage, Alaska, South Anchorage) did his thing, as the workhorse and backbone of the men's squad finished in sixth place with a time of 25:30.0.Â
Jon Sweep (Peoria, Ariz./Liberty) also broke the 26-minute mark, as the Arizona native finished in 14th place with a time of 25:53.3.Â
Rounding out the scoring for the men was
Matthew Roberds (Â Colorado Springs, Colo./Mesa Ridge), as the fifth-year senior finished in 21st place with a fine time of 25:58.6.
On the women's side, the No. 3 ranked ThunderWolves took home runner-up in the event, only trailing the mother school in Fort Collins, as Colorado State University finished just ahead of CSU Pueblo with 40 points, while the Pack finished with 46 points.Â
The ThunderWolves defeated every Division II program in the field, including five RMAC opponents.Â
The Pack were led by three top-10 performers, as
Helen Braybrook (Frieston, United Kingdom),
Leah Keisler (Biggar, United Kingdom), and
Margot Thomas-Gatel (Chapet, Ile-de-France, France) respectivley went fourth, fifth, and sixth in the event.
The 2023 All-American Braybrook took home fourth in the event, running a time of 21:55.6 in the 6k race.
Keisler finished right behind Braybrook with a time of 22:00.7, while Thomas-Gatel finished sixth with an impressive time of 22:04.9
Jadyn Herron (Queen Creek, Ariz./Casteel) had a solid race, finishing in 13th place with a time of 22:40.7.
Rounding out the scoring for the ThunderWolves was
Sarah Renberg (Fresno, Calif./Edison), as the senior finished in 20th with a time of 22:59.3.Â
