DENVER, Colo. (March 4, 2023) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team dropped a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games on the road at MSU Denver, falling 12-5 in game one and falling short in a 6-5 loss in the nightcap.
In the two games,
Darleen Falcon (Fr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) recorded three hits and lead-off hitter
Raelynn Rogers (So., Surprise, Ariz.) totaled two hits and scored four runs for the ThunderWolves.
During the series opener, CSU Pueblo scored all of its runs in the first two innings. The Pack scored one run in their first at bat on a fielder's choice and throwing error on the defense. In their next at bat, the Pack scored four more runs highlighted by a two-run single up the middle from
Caitlyn Cole (Fr., Merced, Calif.).
Later in the frame, a sac flyout and an RBI-double hit by
Marissa Robertson (Fr., Rocklin, Calif.) put the ThunderWolves ahead 5-0.
MSU Denver entered the week unbeaten in conference play and chipped away at the lead and got the deficit to a 5-2 Pack lead.
The Roadrunners offense came alive during the fifth inning when they plated four runs and added six more runs in the sixth to come away with a 12-5 win.
In the nightcap, CSU Pueblo went down 4-1 after the first inning and they would score their second run in the second inning on a error by the defense.
During the fourth inning,
Jill Bishop (Sr., Brighton, Colo.) smacked a two-run double tying the game at 4-4.
In the home half of the fifth, MSU Denver took a 6-4 lead after a single through the infield and a sacrifice fly.
In the seventh, CSU Pueblo loaded the bases and got within one run on a wild pitch. The game ended when the Pack runner from third was caught in a pickle before the final out was recorded.
CSU Pueblo (6-11, 1-9 RMAC) will finish the series with two more games on Sunday starting at 11 a.m.Â
