Softball swept by Colorado Christian

PUEBLO, Colo. (February 25, 2023) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team was swept in a four-game series against Colorado Christian after losing both games of a doubleheader on Saturday at Rawlings Sports Complex.

The ThunderWolves battled and lost a 17-7 decision in the first game and were shutout 12-0 in the series finale.

On the day, Marissa Robertson (Fr., Rocklin, Calif.) and Marika Spector (Jr., Wimberely, Tex.) both led the team with three hits. Robertson hit her second homerun of the season in the first game.

Colorado Christian hit four homeruns in each game as the high powered offense completed the series sweep.

In game one, CCU went out to a 8-0 lead after two innings before the ThunderWolves scored two runs in their half of the second inning from a two-run double hit by Sienna Deporto (Fr., Lovington, N.M.).

The visitors added two more runs in the third against Pack starting hurler Robertson who was doing double duties for the Pack.

Iin their next at bat, CSU Pueblo erupted for five runs, highlighted by Robertson's three-run blast to left field.

Ashley Tosh (So., Fremont, Calif.) and Jill Bishop (Sr., Brighton, Colo.) also picked up RBI hits in the frame.

The Cougars tacked on two runs in the fourth and five more in the seventh for the 17-7 outcome.

In the series finale, Pack starting pitcher Jacelynn Trujillo (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) was effective at the onset and limited the Cougars to one run through three innings. In the fourth, CCU scored two runs and added four more in the fifth, chasing Trujillo from the game.

Lucy Carney (So., Lakewood, Colo.) was called in relief and was tagged for five runs in the seventh inning of a 12-0 Pack loss.

CSU Pueblo (6-9, 1-7 RMAC) next will hit the road for an eight-game road trip beginning Friday at MSU Denver.
